Welcome to Football Manager Live

- A style of story which I hope the get started and gain the interest and followers and possibly encourage people to start their own, The idea of this story is to follow/manage 1 team for a full real time season meaning it will only be played 1/2 games a week at a time, I will try to add as much detail in as possible and attempt to get the updates up every Sunday or Monday at the latest, I will try my best to add Before/After match reports, League updates and full fixture updates of the Premier league.

Alan Kemp has been named as Mark Hughes's replacement as Stoke City manager.

The young Scotsman is a promising coach and Stoke are taking a huge gamble and time will tell if it will pay off or not after coaching in the youth sides.

“We are delighted to confirm the appointment of Alan Kemp as the club’s new head coach,” the club said on Twitter.

Stoke lost 0-1 at home to Southampton in the league to leave them 19th in the Premier league with only 2 wins from 11 games.

“Ourselves and Alan share the same vision and the same mission, to remain in the Premier league and establish ourselves as a top side in the division,” said Peter Coates.

“That mission never changes, and we are doing everything possible to realise it.

“We strongly believe Alan is the key and long-term leader of Stoke to achieve our goals together with the team.”

Swansea are currently bottom of the league table
with only 1 point since the beginning of the season
whilst Stoke sit on 8 Points and are only 1 point behind
Middlesbrough & Burnley who sit just above them,
Although West Ham, Watford & last seasons champions Leicester
sit not too far above.

At the other end of the table Manchester United occupy 1st place
with Arsenal a close second, Manchester City, Tottenham & Liverpool
are close behind. Chelsea are the other shock team to be performing poorly
as they sit a lowly 11th place with only 15 points under new manager Conte.

STOKE CITY: WHERE HAS IT WENT WRONG ?
Stoke's season so far...

View attachment 119162

Obviously we focus on Stoke having a torrid time due to Hughes
no longer being the manager, Here's a look at the last 5 games
to try and analyse what went wrong.

View attachment 119161
The team meet the new manager and sit down
for a briefing of season so far.

View attachment 119160

A home defeat to Southampton in what seemed like a
fairly even match Statistically, Southampton had more possession
whilst Stoke had more shots however only managed 3 on
target the same as the saints.

So in this game the problem clearly lies with shot conversion
in terms of goals and shots on target which aren't at a
great level and if we want to start winning games we need to
ensure the chances created are better and hitting the back
of the net more often than not.

View attachment 119158

Not the worst of results drawing at the champions on ground however
they aren't exactly on the same run as last season and once again shots
on target was poor with only 3 going on target once again,
We had alot less of the ball which is expected away from home
however Leicester managed more shots on target from less shots,
So a point was probably a good result for us in this game.

View attachment 119157

A home defeat here and outplayed in front of our home fans is not good enough,
Less possession, less shots & once again only 2 on target.
In the last 3 games we have only managed around 7/8 shots and only 2/3
on target so we definately need to convert more chances
which seems to be the common theme here.

View attachment 119156

Another home defeat and a team we defeated 4-0 in the cup,
Statistically we were outplayed although probably has been our best
performances looking back, Everyone needs to be more clinical and
defensively tight to try pick up some clean sheets.

View attachment 119155

An expected defeat and totally dominated in possession as expected
against a good Spurs side, Tottenham bagged two inside 20 minutes and
that killed the game off, Again shots on target hit only 3 testing the keeper
very little times as alot of work will be needed on the training
ground to start creating and scoring more.

Upcoming games:

The club are happy to announce that goalkeeper
Jack Butland has returned to full training,
after recovering from a broken ankle and 8 months on the sidelines,
Butland has passed all fitness tests and is available for selection
in the next game and the manager has confirmed he will
feature for the under 23's during the international break.

"I am delighted to be back and 100% ready to fight for my jersey again,
I will take it each week and see what happens but I will give my all in training
to earn my place between the sticks"

Today 10 Stoke City players took part in international duty,
Only 3 of the players played the whole 90 minutes and only
1 scored, Wilfried Bony who played 45 minutes vs Scotland
scored in a 3-2 victory, Joe Allan performed best overall
despite his team losing 1-3 to Belarus he managed to bag
an assist in the match and completed 92% of his passes.

View attachment 118769

Newcastle won the game 1-2 as Jack Butland made his comeback
in a bid to regain fitness, Mame Diouf also featured to try boost
confidence however the striker had a poor game and is unlikely
to start against Watford at the weekend.

Youngster Thibaud Verlinden was the highlight of the match
for Stoke with his directness although needs to work on
his passing game after finishing with a completion rating of 71%.

THE WATFORD REPORT

Stoke players today reported for training for a light session and an afternoon sit down to discuss tactics and the upcoming game plan against Watford in the managers first game in charge of the club, All eyes are on the new manager and how the team can turn things around.

View attachment 118287

Watford currently sit 15th in the league on 10 points and are 2 points ahead of Stoke in the league meaning a win for Stoke will see them rise above their opponents, Watford have managed to win 1 game away from home this season and that came as a shock in the last match against Tottenham @ White Hart Lane, Watford have definitely have had the harder fixtures with ties away to Man Utd, West Ham, Chelsea & Arsenal meaning that away results don't mean much so far when taken into consideration.

Watford have managed to score 13 goals in the 11 games in the league however conceding 21 leaves them on a -8 goal difference for the season so far making this an interesting tie.

Last 5 Results

View attachment 118285

Watford will come into this match with a little bit of confidence coming off the back of a Tottenham victory however would have wished it fell before the international break which could be a good thing for Stoke.

Looking at the previous 5 games you can say 3 expected defeats and 2 tough draws are probably acceptable especially comparing that to Stoke's last 5 games meaning everything is leaning towards a Watford victory although hopefully the change in management can give the team a boost.

Watfords Likely Tactic

View attachment 118284

This is most likely the tactic that Watford will use and the tactic the team have been training and preparing against all week, Watford are a strong physical side with a good jumping reach, Also a team able to play a good passing game with stats rating their completion ratio at 72%, Despite their good the shooting average is 37% and crossing a lowly 25% which says they can be pretty poor on the attack so my prediction would be a potential draw could be on the cards if Stoke continue to create very little chances.

Matchday 12 - English Premier League View attachment 117650View attachment 117652

Today we see Stoke City host Watford in manager Alan Kemp's first match in charge of the club, Stoke have been on a poor run of form of late leading to the change in manager and hopefully the change will see things improve, The visitors travel to the Bet356 Stadium full of hope coming into the match after a victory over Tottenham before the international break.

A victory for Stoke would see them climb above Watford in the league table.

Kick Off

View attachment 117639

9 Mins - Stoke on the attack as a lobbed ball is played through to Bony, Mexes is fully aware of the danger and intercepts calmly allowing Watford to play the ball out from the back

9 Mins - Holebas picks up the ball and attempts to play a lobbed through ball into Deeney however Shawcross picks up enough pace to keep the striker out of harms way jockeying the ball back to Given.

9 Mins - Shay Given has made a hash of things as he slide tackles the ball and Ryan Shawcross for no apparent reason gifting the ball back to Deeney who cooly slots the ball into the net 0-1 Watford

View attachment 117637

10 Mins - Stoke give the ball away from kick off, Deeney & Okaka link up well as he sends Deeney on another run which see's the striker get a shot away, To the delight of the fans the ball strikes the post and not the net.

39 Mins - Gomes has a free kick outside his box which is played long, Behrami wins the ball and finds Capoue in space in the middle of the park, Capoue first time plays the ball through for the sprinting Okaka who goes one on one with Given and fires the ball home 0-2 Watford as things go from bad to worse for Stoke as they are beaten for pace once again.

View attachment 117633

Half-Time

View attachment 117617
View attachment 117630

The stats at half time do not show a 0-2 lead for Watford which will frustrate and infuriate the Stoke manager as the only 2 shots Watford have had on target have hit the net, Stoke have had more possession and chances however nothing clear cut which could lead to a goal.

Second Half

A Very boring second half as very little has happened in the match, The Stoke manager has now made a couple of subs in the 60th Minute to try create something from the game

Muniesa (Off)<----------> (On) Indi
Bony (Off) <---------> (On) Crouch

66 mins - Shaqiri gives the ball away the Behrami half way in Watfords half, a lovely passing move involving Deeney & Capoue gives the team and advance as Holebas plays another long through ball to Deeney who bursts into the box and smashes it in for 0-3 Watford.

View attachment 117624

79 Mins - Holebas whips in a corner from the left side, Shay Given comes out to collect and makes a complete hash of it as Mexes finds himself with an empty net to header the ball into 0-4 this has become embarrasing as the home fans head for the exits.

View attachment 117623
Holebas comes off to huge applause with Hat-trick of assists.

89 Mins - Deeney takes the ball off Shawcross on the wing who is caught in possession, Deeney manages to pick out Okaka in the middle alone who adds a fifth of the match 0-5 Watford in a horrible home performance.

Troy Deeney's pace was just too much for the Stoke defence today as they all collectively had a terrible game, The new manager has a lot of work on his hands to turn this around.

Rough start there :/ I'd maybe suggest that complete wing backs and no holding midfielder leaves you a little open, but it may just have been one of those days

Was one of those days definately, My laptop cut out yesterday when I was at half time and drawing 1-1 lol typical! I changed the tactic at 2-0 and put Imbula more defensive but it never made an impact. I will be looking at the tactic though and changing it to suit whichever team i come up against to try something new in the game!

Thanks though I will be looking more at the wing back/cb positioning as we did get countered by Deeney almost every attack.

Kick-Off

Stoke
kick off the match and immediately go on the attack.

1 Min -From kick off Stoke have kept the ball well, Bony picks out Pieters on the left wing who has tons of space, The Full back whips in the ball and GOAL, Fernandez has tried to defend the ball and put it into his own net. The ideal start for Stoke a goal in 22 seconds!!!

View attachment 116918

11 Mins -
Ki puts in a corner which is cleared by Adam but only as far as Taylor ho gives it back to Ki, The ball was finally cleared by Muniesa.

11 Mins -Bony picked up Muniesa's clearance and sent Mame Diouf on a counter attack, Alfie Mawson slides in a wonderfully defends the shot!

11 Mins - Sobhi picks up the clearance and keeps the pressure on putting the ball back into the box which is cleared by Mawson again this time for a corner.

12 Mins - Charlie Adam bends in the corner cleared by Llorente only as far as Shaqiri who first time picks out Adam on the wing, the ball is whipped again towards Fernandez who knocks it out for a throw in.

Can Swansea Weather the Storm ?

16 Mins - A great through ball from Shaqiri who finds Mame Diouf and the ball is in the net again! 0-2 Stoke.

View attachment 116915Stoke are well in front and rightly so.

44 Mins - Charlie Adam has a perfect opportunity from the Free Kick right outside the box &
GOAL!
Fabianski could have done better but what a striker from Adam!

A great result in a completely controlled match, 19 shots and 9 on target for the away side who exceeded expectations to move up to 16th in the league. Despite the win Bony is out for around 2 weeks with a neck injury.
