New FM26 career save. AS Roma🐺

In the heart of Rome, where history is written in stone and glory is demanded, a new chapter begins with AS Roma. Founded in 1927, Roma has long stood as one of Italy’s most passionate and storied clubs, a symbol of pride for the Eternal City. Competing in Serie A, the Giallorossi have experienced moments of triumph, including three league titles and multiple domestic cups, while constantly chasing European greatness in competitions like the UEFA Champions League.

This is a club built on loyalty and identity. Legends such as Francesco Totti, the eternal captain, defined an era with unmatched devotion and brilliance. Alongside him, warriors like Daniele De Rossi embodied the spirit of Rome, grit, passion, and resilience. Icons like Gabriel Batistuta brought world-class quality and helped deliver unforgettable success.

Now, a new manager steps into the Stadio Olimpico with one mission: to restore Roma to the pinnacle of both Italian and European football. This journey is not just about winning trophies.

Its about reviving a legacy, honouring the past, and forging a dynasty worthy of Rome itself.

Season 1

We started the campaign with flashes of brilliance, putting together some strong runs and even picking up a Manager of the Month along the way. But consistency was a real issue. A string of poor results and some badly timed dips in form saw us slip out of the top 4 in Serie A. Injuries to key players didn’t help either, especially at the back.

Early on, I tried to patch things up by bringing in Sergio Ramos to cover for the injured Gianluca Mancini. It was a short-term fix, but it highlighted the need for a more balanced squad. Tactically, things finally clicked when I settled on a 4-1-2-1-2 narrow – giving us control through the middle and our best run of results all season.

January was a turning point. Out went the underperformers, and in came fresh energy. Signings like Marco Carnesecchi and Vitor Roque made an immediate impact. Their quality helped drive us to the Coppa Italia final and, more importantly, glory in the UEFA Europa League 🏆

Despite European success, our league finish was disappointing – well below the standards expected at Roma.

Season 2 is clear: rebuild, refocus, and come back stronger. The goal is a top 3 finish in Serie A and a serious push in the UEFA Champions League.

Roma isn’t built for mediocrity. We go again. 💛❤️

That was a serious turnaround 👏

Going from inconsistency and slipping out of the top 4 to winning both the league and Coppa Italia the very next season is elite management. Winning Serie A on the final day as well — that’s the kind of title run people remember.

A few things really stand out:

  • Tactical identity locked in – that 4-1-2-1-2 narrow clearly became the foundation. Controlling the middle and playing to our squad strengths paid off massively.
  • Smart recruitment – Marco Carnesecchi and Vitor Roque already sounded like game-changers in Season 1, and in the pre season we window built properly on that with bringing in Pietro Comuzzo and Giorgio Scalvini was a massive statement. Lorenzo Scipioni was and under the radar signing but what a solid CDM he has become!
  • January impact signing – bringing in Federico Chiesa on loan was HUGE as Soule got injured and was out for the rest of the season.

Season 3 is goals are set: Defend our title

A frustrating end to the season as we failed to retain the Serie A title. In truth, it wasn’t one big collapse — it was a pattern that cost us. Too many poor results away from home, especially against mid-to-lower table sides where we simply should be doing better. On top of that, we dropped far too many points through draws… games we controlled but couldn’t put to bed.

The one bright spot: we did retain the Coppa Italia, so it’s not a completely empty-handed season. Still, the league is the priority, and we fell short.

Looking ahead to the new season, it’s clear what needs fixing. We’ve got the quality in the squad — no excuses there — but defensively we’ve been far too open. Conceding goals at the rate we have makes it nearly impossible to stay consistent over a full campaign.

Pre-season focus is simple:

  • Find a tactical setup that gives us more control
  • Tighten up defensively without losing attacking threat
  • Turn those draws into wins
  • Improve away form — that’s non-negotiable
There’s a title-winning team in this squad. Now it’s about finding the balance to bring it out over 38 games.
