I dont intend this as a "complaint" or anything similar, but rather as a... vague "wake-up-call";

In the forum rules, rule #7 says: "No 'txt' talk. Please check your spellings." (http://www.fm-base.co.uk/forum/misc.php?do=cfrules)

This is something that seems to be completely ignored by just about everyone and I, personaly, find it to be somewhat annoying. There are to many posts here where you need to hire a linguist to read it.

One of my prime examples is: "4 me giovinco is jst as gd as ribery, whn i signed him at 1stthe" (no offence to whoever wrote it)

I feel that several of the messages here are becoming down right hard to acctually read. It seems like commas, periods, capital letters, acctual words without numbers in them, and so on.

Do you think that this is something wich need to be "cracked down on"?

You have made a mistake, its actual not acctual.

I agree with what you are saying though

Yep exactly, took the words right out of my mouth.

Gets on my nerves, but fed up moaning about it as nobody listens.

I'm very pleased to see that there are someone here who thinks about this aswell. When I first started using this forum I thought that the rules would be followed more closely, but no. I dont mind misspellings on a normal level, but some people just goes to town when it comes to lol, any1, 4 me... the list goes on...

Sorry for the little misspelling in my first post, I was just a bit to quick on the keyboard.

Is ok just pointing out before other people do.

I know what you mean when I first joined I was careful to follow the no text speak rule but I too see it on nearly every thread. The most infuriating is the use of words like gr8, 2 (for to or too) and my personal pet hate using z instead of s, e.g. iz, waz, why use a z when the s is just above it :@ :@ :@

I just dont understand where this type of writing comes from? I have tried it myself, but I would have taken me 10 minutes just to write a simple reply. In one way I nearly admire those who can actually write a quick message in such a way.

And how can you write four or five sentences without using a single comma or period? It is beyond me!

It is annoying, and I know Sean, Lee etc do warn people for doing it consistently, but the forums are as busy as they have ever been for the past couple of months and it's probably hard for them to keep track of every thread like that, especially when there are so many duplicates of ones that have already been created.

I couldn't agree more on this.... i think that it's extremely anoying, always to have to concentrate that much on what you're reading to simply make it give any sense... :P
I admit though, that i've written "u" instead of "you", SOMETIMES.... And i'm sorry... won't happen again :)

I feel that there are two ways to combat this problem;

1. The moderators are going to be more firm when it comes to it. This might be a slow and painfull job and it might not work.

2. We can just hope that people come to their senses and start writing english instead of... we need a name for it... Microsoftish?

The most annoying one for me is 'm8'. That gets on my nerves so badly.

This is the sort of post that annoys me.

juz wondered if any of u have experienced cases whereby clubs are 4eva interested in ur team's players and yet unwilling to offer more than twice their actual value. think i've posted something like dat b4 regarding the 9.3 patch and i would realli like 2 noe wad would u all do if other teams fail to meet ur players valuation (eg. some1 is valued @ 12m and u feel that he shud b sold @ 30m++, like hw the bots trade players). do u all juz sell @ arnd twice their value or would u attempt to squeeze more $$ frm them? imo, if man city can offer 29m 4 barry, whose actual value is juz 7m, then they shud offer more 4 ur players who are worth above 10m.

I totally agree with you.

I saw a thread recently, and I honestly didn't understood it.

It was this one (thanks ChrisMorgan)

I still don't get it.

FFS text chat is so annoying,i mean WTF is it all about? LOL (6)

Obviously we do try and clamp down on it as it's annoying for everyone to read apart from the pea-brained ones. It's just that it's hard for us to read every thread. It would be great if you lot could report the post if you see a post like that (click the red exclamation mark icon).

I know that I do use text language at times but since I text that much I sometimes just naturally do it on this. I know that people don't like it but people will always do it.

P.S. You have no idea how many times I had to correct what I have said (lol)

I know text speak is quicker (and I do use it for texting people I know) but some of the word changes are just moronic. For example, Noe instead of no (its actually longer) wuz (that's just a blantant and ignorant way of spelling). The thing that baffels me the most though, is this - Kids now days get phones from about 8-10 years of age. By then, they should of had at least 3-5 years of book reading and writing experience, yet it appears that people are learning to text write before learning how to write true English. The problem then, isn't the person that's writing that way, but a complete break down in the education system (and yes, parents are definitely at more fault than teachers who are there only for the daylight hours). 10 years of labour, and what do we have? Illiterate boyz and gals ooh aint got a clue!

It's about time we faced youngsters with the truth - it's not text speak; it's just plain bad and lazy English (that has unfortunately also been added to by foreigners who can't be bothered to learn the language).

Please note - I am not a racist, nor do I support BNP - so please leave all uneducated and judgemental comments some where else!

For me it gets kinda hard to know what it's written because of the short words, because i'm portuguese and don't keep an update on the english street vocabulary xD

I for one don't check ever thread I only read the ones im interested in reading so its up to you guys as the FM-Base community to make us aware of the things we have missed. Then we can make the decision on what action to take.

Personally I really don't care, I think people just need to quit whining and move on. I mean really, this is the internet, the moderators cannot control how people type about each sentence. I mean if we are going all out to be picky, may as well ban people for using improper grammar and stuff like that. There's a thing call freedom, you have a choice to read or not read, and if you don't want to read "Text" posts, then don't read them, it's not like your life will be harmed or offened by this.
