Hey guys, I have decided that since I've tried managing many teams and none seem to click I have chosen that I will start unemployed and go where the wind (or money) takes me. This will (hopefully) be one man's career from Benefits to Billions!

1/7/2009

Today was possibly the worst day of my life. I was fired from my job at the local factory today. They are making cuts because of this ****** recession and because of my disability I suppose I was chosen first. Things get worse as I was dropped from the coaching position at my local football club after I was deemed the wrong role model for the job. Despite the fact I won them 3 league title's and came runner-up in the cup.

3/7/2009

I collected my first benefit's payment today, it felt horrible, my life is slowly on the down...

5/7/2010

My life is looking up! Today I was approached by Forfar Athletic to take over as Manager, yes MANAGER of the club. The pay isnt brilliant but it is decent and it lets me do the thing I love again. I will be getting picked up tommorow morning!

Rhys Nelson Announced as New Forfar Manager
Today, the chairman of Forfar Athetic Neil Wilson announced with a smile that Rhys Nelson, former coach of his local club with great success would be taking over at Forfar Athletic FC, his employment would start with immediate effect and he will arrive at the club tommorow morning. We hope to see you there to welcome your new manager.

I simply cannot believe im sitting her in my office at Station Park after what has happend today. But before we get to that I suppose I should round up my job here so far.

Forfar Athletic 1 - 3 Dinamo Samarqand
Gibson(90) - Baqoev(6,14), Tursunov(45+1)

When I arrived on my first day here I decided to scrap all my existing friendlies and set up a 'Junior Cup' to which I invited 3 sides to come and compete in a minature competition. The sides invited where Dinamo Samarqand, Stalybridge and Ivrea.

The first half of this match pretty much ruined our chances, I made all the wrong decisions and I realise that now, I tried a new tactic I was working on with my local team before I was dropped, but it was a shambles. Second half I altered the tactic's A LOT and we came out flying, but could only pull one goal back through Graham Gibson.

Forfar Athletic 3 - 1 Stalybridge
Gibson(7), OG(10), Deasley(42) - OG(71)

Much better performance, keeping the same tactic we dominated the second half against Dinamo we put in a stunning attacking display first half and more or less shut up shop afterwards. They where lucky even to pull one back in my opinion. A fantastic result for me.

Alloa Athletic 0 - 1 Forfar Athletic (Challenge Cup)
Templeman(108)

And now we get to the result I am so ecstatic about. We went into this game treating it like another run out, or so I thought. We defended brilliantly at the back and looked the more likely to score the entire game. On 88 minutes I thought we had done it only to have Deasley's strike chalked of for a foul. But Templeman came of the bench after 90 minutes and on 108 minutes headed us into the lead which we defended until the final whistle, absoloutely BRILLIANT!

Transfers

Only a few to mention, we got Saulo Asajile on a free transfer at 18 he is said to be twice the player of any of my wingers alread. We also signed Hibernian's Lewis Graham for 1k who looks like a solid prospect for between the sticks in the future. Finally Shaun Carroll also joined us on a free transfer after the trial days, my coaches dont seem to think much of him but I believe with the right guidance he may just become a good striker for us.

In Other News...

We have made a deal to have St Johnstone as our parent club, aswell as the loan agreement they will also pay us 25k annualy. This should help with finances.

Nice start to the story, unlike the common "Hey blah blah blah I'm gonna do a story with (Enter team name) and update soon."

Good luck.

30/8/2009

I write this entry in my blog with mixed emotions, it has been a rollercoaster month for Forfar, but I suppose I should let the results speak for themselves.

Forfar Athletic 2 - 1 Dunfermline (Scottish League Cup)
Bryan Deasley(88,Pen 90+2) - David Graham(55)

I was delighted, we went behind be Deasley inspired the win, when he stepped up to take the penalty I knew it would clatter into the back of the net.

Livingston 2 - 0 Forfar Athletic
Robbie Winters(37), David Winters(53) - Stuart Maicom(RED,42)

We where poor to be honest, we had the chances but didnt put them away, I feel a loss is harsh but with a man down, Livingston took the initiative and we just couldnt recover.

Stirling Albion 4 - 3 Forfar Athletic (AET, Challenge Cup)
David McKenna(24), Nathan Taggart(51) - Bryan Deasley(39, 48), Saulo Asajile(106)
Martin Greham(95, 103)
David McKenna(Miss Pen, 68)

We went down, but we went down fighting, a good performance but unfortunately not good enough see's our defeated run continue.

Annan Athletic 3 - 1 Forfar Athletic
Graeme Bell(36), Lee Hoolickin(39), OG(58) - Bryan Deasley(82)

We where poor, thats all there is to say, we created but didnt score.

REST OF UPDATE TOMMOROW NEED MY SLEEP :P

Continued from Last Night's Update

Forfar Athletic 1 -1 Berwick Rangers
Graham Gibson(24) - Damon Gray(73)

This was dissapointing, we should've scored atleast one more and the fact we conceded in the last 20 minutes was just heartbreaking, we didnt get going again, but atleast I get my first league points on the table.

Forfar Athletic 0 - 2 St Mirren (Scottish League Cup)
Billy Mehmet(27), Jack Ross(55)

We fought bravely against the Premier League side and where in no way out classed, if only we could find this form in the league, fingers crossed.

Forfar Athletic 1 - 0 Albion Rovers
Stuart Malcolm(49)

My first win, and how great did it feel, Stuart Malcolm powered a header in from the corner and we held out, we dominated in all honesty and our 13 shots to their 3(of which none of theirs was on target) proves this.

Transfers...

Most signings I have made where just to give some squad depth or have some competition.

Stefan Moore - Winger(right+left) - Free Transfer
Andy Reilly - Winger(left) Attacking Mid(centre) - Carnoustie - £500
Ryan Dow - Striker - Dundee Utd - Loan
Ben Etchels - Defender(Central) - Dundee - Loan

Good luck mate, some good results, unlucky against St. Mirren.

2/10/09

Well last month started badly for me, after reading that Serie B side Regina where considering replacing their manager I declared intrest in the job, perhaps I was too ambitious but that dosent matter, just a day later I was greeted by an E-Mail from the Fans Spokesperson who informed me that the fans where already asking me to step down as Manager. We needed a result against Stranraer in 4 days time.

Forfar Athletic 3 - 0 Stranraer
Bryan Deasley(37), Chris Templeman(45+1)
Saulo Asajile(7)

Well I needed a result and I got it, the boys where fantastic and the scoreline shows that, we had double there shots with 3x as many on target, we controlled this game and where deserved winners.

Elgin 0 - 0 Forfar Athletic

Not dissapointed at all as we managed to keep a clean sheet for the third game in a row. Neither team really created much and both seemed solid at the back, in honesty we seemed the more likely to score but we just didnt have the final edge we needed.

Forfar Athletic 2 - 2 East Stirlingshire
Stefan Moore(32,39) - Scott Johnstone(60,67)

I am very dissapointed by the second half performance, we where solid the first half and looked really on track to keep a 4th clean sheet, right until their first goal, then we fell apart, Moore worked his socks of to try and cover up his team mates errors but there was just no hiding, this wasnt good enough.

Transfers... (Apparently we can still sign players outside the window?)

Some good signings, giving cover for our DM area and more competition in the CM area aswell.

Damien Mozika - Def Midfield, Midfield(Centre) - Free Transfer
Paul Hilland - Defender(left) - Free Transfer
John Lukic - Goalkeeper - Free Transfer

1/11/2009

I write this today after what can only be described as the best month as manager I have EVER had. I suppose you will find out why after this...

Queens Park 1 - 3 Forfar Athletic
Ian Watt(21) - Darren Brady(40), Stefan Moore(67, 85)

What looked like it would be a disaster at Hampden for us turned into a dream day for me as we came from 1-0 down to tear Queens Park apart 3-1, Moore was brilliant today and was unlucky not to bag more goals.

Berwick 1 - 1 Forfar Athletic
Paul McMullan(19) - Stefan Moore(62)

We gave a good fight after going behind once again and a draw away from home against over-acheiving Berwick was more than enough to keep me and the fans happy.

Forfar Athletic 9 - 0 Selkirk (Scottish Cup)
Bryan Deasley(2, 15, 88), Stefan Moore(25)
Chris Templeman(45+1)
Damien Mozika(51)
Stephen McNally(62, 86), OG(67)

Although we where expected to beat this team badly I didnt expect to hit 9 past them, a fantastic result, my highlights where Beasley's hat-trick two super goals from Stephen McNally and Damien Mozika's screamer.

Forfar Athletic 4 - 0 Montrose
Damien Mozika(39)
Bryan Deasley(42, 59, 66)

There is no better way to end the month than with a 4-0 hammering of your rivals, Beasley scored his 2nd hat-trick in 2 matches and he is the man on form just now, absoloutely brilliant.

Key Players So Far...

Just to give some recognition to the key players of the season thus far...

moore1.jpg

Stefan Moore

We got Stefan on a free transfer and I feel he is an absoloutely brilliant signing, he has made a total of 9(+1 sub) appearances for me so far in competitive games and has scored 7 goals, got 6 assists and 2 MoM awards.

0024%2Bv%2Bmontrose%2B3-0%2Bdfc%2B2008-9.jpg

Bryan Deasley

This goal machine is on loan from Dundee until the end of next season, by then I hope to have enough to sign him on a permanent basis or to extend his loan until the end of next season (when his contract with the Dee's runs out;) so far for me he has made a full 10 Appearances in competition scored a massive 12 goals got 1 assist and 3 MoM awards.

406472-2.jpg

Damien Mozika

A later signing for me but he is already proving to be a brilliant adition to the ever strenghtining Forfar team. His 2 goals and 2 assists in 6 appearances aswell as an average rating of 7.40 proves how much of a top player he is, AND he is only 22 years old :D

Monthly Awards - Forfar Athletic

Player of The Month

In this category Stefan Moore took 2nd place while his strike partner Bryan Deasley was awarded with 3rd

Young Player of the Month

While Deasley could only finish 3rd in player of the year he took 1st place in young player of the year, well done to the lad.

Manager of the Month

I myself was pipped to this award by Gary Bollan, manager of Livingston, still, finishing 2nd in this category is great for someone like me.

1/12/2009

Here I am, another month in control at Forfar, after a slight dip at the start of this month the rest has went pretty well and im pleased with the boys results.

The Games...

Forfar Athletic 0 - 3 Annan Athletic
Phil Storey(14), Luke Prince(57), John MacBeth(62)

We fell apart today, it was as simple as that, we didnt even create much unlike our usual form, I was surprised we didnt even pull a goal back, never mind... moving on!

Forfar Athletic 4 - 0 Livingston
Darren Brady(20), Chris Templeman(43)
Bryan Deasley(45+1), Alberto Ateca(pen 80)

Albion Rovers 1 - 2 Forfar Athletic
Bobby Barr(21) - Saulo Asajile(12), Alberta Ateca(78), Stephen Tulloch SENT OFF(51)

A brilliant fight to win with only 10 men was brilliant, Ateca is certainly the man on form, scoring from the spot and now heading us the win today from a corner, inspired signing on my part if i do say so.

Forfar Athletic 4 - 1 Turriff Utd (Scottish Cup)
Alberto Ateca(9), Bryan Deasley(33) - Bruce Webster(54)
Stefan Moore(36, 47)

Another good game for us, Deasley got another goal, although he seems to have lost that firey form from last month, Moore bagged 2 and im continuned to be impressed with him. But ofcourse the man to talk about is Ateca, this time scoring not from a penalty or a corner, but still with his head after the ball was rifled into the air on the edge of the box he scored a fine header.

The In-Form Players...

1256643306.jpg

Alberto Ateca

Even though he just joined us last month, he has performed amazingly for me, he is a rock at centre back and can even add goals to his record, brilliant player. 5 Apperances, 3 Goals AND an Assist proves this.

moore3.jpg

Stefan Moore

This man again has been still in good form this season, and is a good signing in my eye's I admire his talent in front of goal, a key player for us as reflected in his 8 Goals and 7 Assists in all competitions.

Profile_Howard.jpg

Saulo Asajile

Originally bought to fill the winger slot i needed, Asajil found himself without a place in the squad after the re-shuffle but has recently broken back into the team. While only having 3 goals and 5 assists in 14 appearances isnt the most impressive record, you must still remember that this start is only 18 years of age and has a bright future ahead of him.

The Transfers...

Alberto Ateca - Defender(Centre) - Free Transfer
Craig Lindfield - Striker - Free Transfer

The Rest...

We lost Damien Mozika this month throught injury but will be returning to the squad soon thankfully.
Meanwhile Alberto (Ateca) came runner up for player of the month.
Saulo (Asajile) came third in the young player in the month.
And I was once again 2nd in the Manager of the Month to Berwicks Jimmy Crease.
Stephen Tulloch, Mark McCulloch, Martyn Fotheringham and Andy Tod have all signed new (Full Time) contracts that are an improvement on their previous Part Time contracts.

1/01/2010

Happy New Year everybody, I am still in a good mood following once again a good month for us in the 3rd Division.

The Games...

Stranraer 3 - 2 Forfar Athletic
Michael Moore(20), Alex Fleming(24) - Saulo Asajile(54), Stefan Moore(58)
Martin Jack(62)

We fought back from 2-0 down only to have our dreams of a superb comeback crushed on 62 minutes, we had the ball in the net afterwards but Deasley was offside, as he was a lot of the match, may have to consider replacing him.

Forfar Athletic 1 - 0 Elgin
Bryan Deasley(12)

Deasley may have scored the winning goal but he is still seemingly too eager to make a run, he was offside so many times I had to sub him of, and when I did it was during a free kick that they had because he was offside.

East Stirlingshire 1 - 1 Forfar Athletic
Jack Metcalf(53) - Andy Tod(84)

First quarter belonged to Stirlingshire, however the second belonged to us, the second half was just pure joy of end-to-end football with them getting the advantage before a corner was shot around the box taking deflection from deflection before centre back Andy Tod stedied himself on the edge and fired it past their keeper to earn us a well needed point.

Forfar Athletic 4 - 1 Queen's Park
Chris Templeman(6), Andy Tod(32) - Steven Reilly(pen 82)
Stefan Moore(59), Alberto Ateca(84)

An all round brilliant display, Chris Templeman(Deasley's replacement) fired us into the lead early before his deflected free kick bounced to Andy who fired the half volley in, once again cleaning up after his fellow players. Stefan Moore made a brilliant run and scored before the hour then Ateca took another header and placed it well. Even the goal given away didnt disapoint me :)

The Players in Form...

_41159460_todgoal203.gif

Andy Tod

The strong centreback hasnt only been at the heart of my defence but has also added 2 goals to his tally this month, and if he can grab a few more across the course of the season fair play to the lad.

1256643306.jpg

Alberto Ateca

Another solid performance this month from sturdy centreback Alberto Ateca, the experienced centre back is proving despite his age he can handle himself here.

_42421205_kilmarnock_morton_203.jpg

Chris Templeman

The striker was only brought into the squad again recently but now looking at his record 5 goals and 7 assists is a pretty good show and hopefully he will add to that tally throughout the season.

In Other News...

The transfer window is open and I am currently looking for some younger centre backs as both my current choices are well past thier expiration date and will be retire maybe even this year, will be looking for Tod and Ateca to coach them though, and hopefully get atleast one to stay on as a coach at the club.

Also I have finally clinched the Manager of the Month Award despite this not being my best year I as tipped as the best and I am delighted by it.

Great stuff mate, like the title. I had Saulo Asajile on FM 07 with Wycombe, he was decent. Good luck mate.

1/02/2009

What a month it has been, probably the best month in my history here at Forfar we have been superb and the lads have worked their socks of the past few games.

The Games...

Montrose 2 - 5 Forfar Athletic
Jordan Leyden(28), John Gemell(29) - Martyn Fotheringham(20), Stefan Moore(26)
- Alberto Ateca(41,67), Craig Lindfield(43)

A brilliant start to the month we took the early lead but had a scare when Montrose scored 2 in 2 minutes(i know wtf) but thanks to new signing last month Craig Lindfield and Alberto Ateca we where comfartable going into the second half. Ateca added another in a demolition of rivals Montrose.

Annan Athletic 1 - 1 Forfar Athletic
Phil Storey(1) - Damien Mozika(36)

Although a draw after our last result was, sobering I guess you could say it was still good to get another point on the board and keep our unbeaten run up.

Forfar Athletic 3 - 1 Clyde (Scottish Cup)
Martyn Fotheringham(17) - Phil Younghusband(15)
Chris Templeman(44, 62)

FANTASTIC yet another higher divison opposition goes down to might Forfar we went down early but went on to take a convincing win over Clyde and set up an intresting tie with our old feeder club, St Johnstone, could we really defeat an SPL side, in the form we are in, I truly believe so.

Forfar Athletic 4 - 1 Berwick
Chris Templeman(10, 65) - Steve Radzynski(pen 68)
Martyn Fotherwingham(51)
Stefan Moore(77)

Another demolition proving if we had more consistent results (less draws;)) then we would be in a class of our own from the 3rd divison, I really hope we can clinch promotion this season.

Livingston 1 - 1 Forfar Athletic
Robbie Winters(34) - Alberto Ateca(3)

An even match, well played from both sides proving we are the top when it comes to Scottish 3rd Division Football (LOL) Livi are the only side that can even be compared to us in my eye's however if we get complacent or have an of form day, anyone can beat us.

Forfar Athletic 4 - 3 Albion Rovers
Craig Lindfield(25) - Paul Stewart (3, 43), Pat Walker(59)
Chris Templeman(pen 28)
Bryan Deasley(69)
Saulo Asajile(82)

Well, what a day to have a fans day(which saw a bumper crowd of 561) <) goals where flying all over the pace at with only 8 minutes left my 'wonderkid' Saulo powered us into the lead which we held onto, a fantastic result, what a way to end the month on a high.

The Key Players...

Martyn Fotheringham(couldnt find pic)

Martyn has found his form recently for us, he is a key player now and in 11 appearances for Forfar so far has netted 3 while assisted a further 4.

_42421205_kilmarnock_morton_203.jpg

Chris Templeman

If you want to know the key to my success here look to none other than the magic man himself, Chris Templeman. With 17(+2) appearances for Forfar he has netted 10 goals for himself while setting up further 9, this means that from the 67 goals I have scored with this club, he has played some part in 19 of them.

Transfers...

Kevin MacDonald - Defensive Mid - Rob Roy - 2.5k
Louis Swanson - Attacking Mid(centre) - Dundee Utd - Loan
Ed Thompson - Goalkeeper - Free Transfer

In Other News...

We have broken our link with St Johnstone however established one with Dundee Utd in its place.

Alberto Ateca came runner up for the player of the month award, as did myself for Manager of the Month award, so a fairly succesful month on this fronts.

AND with only 14 fixtures until the Winner of the Scottish 3rd Division is announced, things are sure getting sticky at the top, can we keep producing the results needed?

The League Table...

* = Champion = Automatic Promotion
** = Play of's For 2nd Promotion Spot

Place/Team/Points

1st - Livingston - 45*
2nd - Forfar Athletic - 40
3rd - East Stirlingshire - 37
4th - Berwick - 35**
5th - Montrose - 32
6th - Queen's Park - 27
7th - Elgin - 24
8th - Albion Rovers - 21
9th - Stranraer - 21
10th Anna Athletic - 17

great story i wish you all the best and ill keep reading

1/02/09

A rollercoaster month this month has, by more or less pure chance seen us extend our lead over East Stirlingshire in 3rd but lose more space between us and Livingston for automatic promotion.

The Games...

Forfar Athletic 5 - 0 Stranraer
Andy Tod(06)
Alberto Ateca(11)
Craig Lindfield(35)
Kevin Macdonald(76)
Chris Templeman(88)

A picture perfect start to the month with a demolition of Stranraer, goals coming from 5 players proves we have goals everywhere in the team and that we are a force to contend with going forward.
The Scottish Cup
5th Round Tie
ForfarAthleticFC.gif
vs
150px-Image-St_Johnstone_FC_logo.jpg

0 FT 1
Stephen Milne(31)

A brave fight against SPL St Johnstone saw us unlucky to go out only a goal to nil, the lads played well and gave the Saints a run for their money but in the end, I feel they where the better side on the night, but in no way is this loss a bad result, we defended beatifully and looked dangerous and where so unlucky not to come away with a result here, good work by the lads, brilliant only to lose by 1 goal to a top-flight side

Elgin 3 - 2 Forfar Athletic
Jason Crooks(5,31) - Stefan Moore(25), Alberto Ateca(42)
Paul Kaczan(60)

A poor display by the lads, I tell you, we desperately need a better back line as 2 goals should be more than enough to take a victory.

Forfar Athletic 2 - 2 Montrose
Stefan Moore(28.42) - John Gemmel(26), Jordan Tabor(65)

Credit to Moore, another poor performance at the back though only saw us take a point, we really need to strengthen up.

Forfar Athletic 6 - 3 East Stirlinshire
Chris Templeman(12,23) - Simon Lynch(14,73), Andy Rodgers(52)
Stefan Moore(19,27,85)
Ryan Dow(45+1)

A testament to my words, our Attack is clearly the best in the league, and tbh our defence is probably the worst, unless we can harden up at the back we may just lose promotion.

The Key Players...

moore1.jpg

Stefan Moore

THE man on form just now, i just took a look at his stats after this month and in 24(+1) appearances he has netted 18 goals and assisted 10, just spectacular.

_42421205_kilmarnock_morton_203.jpg

Chris Templeman

While perhaps being over shadowed by strike partner Stefan Moore, Templeman has still netted another 3 goals this month and now has 13 goals and 10 assists, making a total of 23 goals he has been involved in, only 5 less than Moore.

Profile_Saulo1.jpg

Saulo Asajile

At 19 years of age(i think he had a birthday) Saulo is still chipping in for the team with 5 goals and 10 assists he is proving to be a key player and future superstart for Forfar.

In Other News

Chris Templeman came runner up to the Player of the Month with Alberto Ateca finishing in 3rd. While Asajile took 2nd in the Young Player of the Month Award.

I applied for the Hibernian job after John Hughes was sacked, but was unsuccesful :( ah well its probably better for my career to stay at Forfar and get the results.

Awesome start mate. You seem to be scoring with ease. Id stay with Forfar for now instead of going for the bigger jobs. I'll keep reading.

1st - Livingston - 45*
2nd - Forfar Athletic - 40
3rd - East Stirlingshire - 37
4th - Berwick - 35**
5th - Montrose - 32
6th - Queen's Park - 27
7th - Elgin - 24
8th - Albion Rovers - 21
9th - Stranraer - 21
10th Anna Athletic - 17

Woo c'mon the Lions!
