The End of Season Update + Review

Unforunately an incosisten end to the season ment we only just qualified for the play-offs however with poor form looming over us we went out in the first round to Codewnbeath. Saying this however, we finished above expectations, and In honesty automatic promotion isnt to far fetched next season if we can keep consisitency levels up.

Alberto Ateca was named Forfar Fan's player of the season, well deserved as he was the only part of my failing defence that actually worked, a number of players have left the club at end of contracts but I managed to tie down mostly every important player to a new contract.

We got an intake of youth at the end of the season I will include an attatchment of the most promosing of these new players aswell as an attatchment of the final league table.

Elsewhere...

For those who are intrested Chelsea defeated Athletico Madrid on Penalties to win The Champions League and Aston Villa prevailed as 2-1 victors over Liverpool to win the Europ League, this sets up an all english tie of Chelsea - Aston Villa in this years Euro Super Cup.

Chelsea are the EPL champions with runners-up Tottenham only losing out on GD, while Arsenal finished 7th and failed to qualify for continental competition.

MY bad >.< looked at old SPL table Celtic took the title, with Rangers runners-up, followed by Dundee Utd, with Aberdeen and Kilie taking the last 2 euorpean spots this season. Motherwell and Hibs won their fight against relegation, St Johnstone however where not so lucky.

Exclusive! Interview With Forfar Athletic Manager Rhys Nelson

Hello and welcome to the first edition of ScotsSport, your online newspaper into all the latest Scottish Sport news, and today, in our first edition an interview with Forfar Manager Rhys W. Nelson.

EA(Elliot Adams): So Rhys, you sit here after your first season at Forfar, how do you think it went?

RN(Rhys Nelson): The season, in my eye's atleast was success, we where expected to be fighting it out near the bottom and yet until the penultimate month we where in a championship battle with Livi.

EA: You mention the championship batte, and you also mention your dip in form towards the end, can you give a reason for this?

RN: I am afraid not, the boys where trying like they normally did but we couldnt seem to find the form that had got us there.

EA: It must be heart-breaking for you to come so close to promotion and not achieve it, how do you feel on this matter?

RN: It was dissapointing but at the same time, it would have been even tougher this season if we did go up.

EA: What is your goals for this season then?

RN: Mainly the same as last season, good runs in the cups, respectable league finish, my main aim this season is to improve finances at the club so that next season we might have the oppertunity to improve facilities.

EA: A final question, Darren Brad served as your Captain from the bench last season, will you be looking to change this?

RN: I have discussed this with Darren and the Board, Darren is likely to feature more this season for us however we have both agreed that the arm band should be passed on to Alberto (Ateca) with the vice being given to Damien (Mozika).

EA: Thankyou Rhys, best of luck with the season.

RN: Goodbye.

(So what do you guys think? feedback on this sort of thing would be good:))

Good season, try and secure promotion next year. Get a few loans in, get a strong attacking tactic or defensive if you don't score enough or concede alot. Keep going though!

yeahh good stuff :) like to see a bottom end club, I took afc wimbledon all the way up on 09 and its brilliant fun. like the interview too, kiu

i've managed forfar before but i got bored when i got them to the 1st division might go back to it one day. i'd recomend getting a parent club because you will find your player will be much lower standard to the other teams when you go up division, also look at hamiltions and hearts youth team they have good 1st division standard players in there squad with you can pick up for nothing best of luck i'll be following

Well done, nice layout, you've assembled a good team, and with a few signings you'll walk the league. (H)

Forfar Athletic Part Ways with Nelson

It was today announced that Forfar Manager Rhys Nelson had agreed a mutual termination of his contract following a disapointing start to the new season following on from a disapointing run at the end of last season.

Chairman Neil Wilson had this to say:

"Following recent results Forfar Athletic and Rhys Nelson have agreed to terminate the later's contract. The Board understand fully that Mr Nelson did all he could to stop the poor results and we wish him the best of luck in the future."

Meanwhile Nelson said:

"It is obviously disapointing for me, we had an almost perfect season last year but we dropped towards the end and couldnt pick back up, I tried all I could and I am proud of my efforts but I feel I am no longer the man to take this club forward."

The resignation of Nelson has had mixed opinions amongst Forfar fans, some believing that with more cooperation from the Board and Staff at the Club Nelson could have created big things, while others wonder why he didnt go sooner.
