A Dream is Born

Guisley have today announced the signing of young striker, Liam Pinder. The 14 year old has impressed in the local youth leagues, leading the goalscoring charts in the league for the last four seasons. He is said to have a good eye for goal and also tends to link up well with his fellow teammates. This coupled with his determined and hard working attitude makes him an exciting prospect. Guisley scouts have been watching the youngster for several months, and will be relieved to get their target after reported interest from higher divisions. While he obviously has a lot of potential, he is still only a raw talent and it will be up to him to put in the hard yards on the training pitch. If he works hard and steers clear of injury, then he will surely have Guisley fans singing his name in the years to come. For now though, his sights are firmly set on a first team place. Pinder has signed a two year youth contract, finishing 30/6/2015.

July-August 2013

July
In July, Pinder played his first senior team game for Guisley. He came on in the 48th minute against Alfreton in a pre-season friendly. Although Pinder didn't start in any friendlies, he managed to come on as a sub in all five pre-season matches this month. This gave him little time to make an impact. Guisley had a pretty pre-season overall. The club lost three and drew two matches, scoring only the one goal against Alfreton. This may cause Mark Bower to take a chance on starting Pinder for the start of the Skrill North season.

August
Bower decided to give Pinder a chance to shine. He first started the youngster against Bamber Bridge in the last friendly before the new season, however this was only for 45 minutes. He then started against Solihull in the season opener. He also started in the games against Colwyn Bay and Gloucester. While he hasnt scored yet, the striker has been getting reasonable ratings in these games. Guisley currently sit top of the table after being undefeated in the first five games of the season, four of these being wins.

Summer Transfer Update 2013

Premier League

View attachment 412345View attachment 412344View attachment 412323

Not a very exciting window in the Premier League, with Lucas Leiva's ?23million move to Manchester City being the main talking point. The other big moves included Tottenham signing Felipe from Atletico Madrid(?13.75million), with the Madrid side signing Cheick Tiote from Newcastle and Anderson from Manchester United. However, there was a late flurry of activity on the final day, with Manchester United spending over ?40million on three players. Arsenal also signed four players in the final hours.

Europe

The transfer window proved a lot more busy in the rest of Europe, with several ?10million plus deals. Benfica proved one of the most active, spending in excess of ?40million.

September-October 2013
September
This month saw Pinder's Guisley career really kick off. Pinder scored his first goal for his new club in a 2-1 defeat agaisnt Boston in a close game. Pinder continued his impressive form this month by also scoring in the FA Cup tie against Clitheroe. His goal helped his side to get through to the next round of the FA Cup after winning 2-1. His appearance in the competition also broke several records. Pinder broke the record for youngest player and youngest goalscorer.

October
The striker's good form continued over into October. In the first game of the month, he helped his side to a 2-1 win over Altrincham, contributing an assist for the winning goal. He also added another goal to his collection in the FA Cup. Guisley beat Workington to progress once more. However, Pinder's performance of the month came in the last game of the month. He scored and set up another in a dominant 2-1 win over Worcester. Guisley remain in first position with a two point gap between them and their nearest rival.

November-December 2013
November
Pinder continued to show that the FA Cup is his favourite competition by scoring for the third time this season in the famous competition. However, he was unable to prevent a 2-1 loss in the first round against better opposition in League 1 side Swindon. This month also saw the shock exit of player/manager Mark Bower. As his contract had run out and no new deal arranged, the man who brought Pinder to Guisley left with immediate effect. This was especially shocking as Guisley currently sit top of the league. Pinder also became the youngest player to play in the FA Trophy in November

December
December started well for the young striker. He scored the only two goals in a 2-0 win over Boston, seeing him picking up the man of the match award. However, the rest of the month proved unspectacular for Pinder. Guisley have dropped down to third, but are only two points of the leaders, North Ferriby. The search for Mark Bowers replacement continues, with no clear front runners so far.

January-February 2014
January
The year got off to a brilliant start, with Pinder scoring in the first minute in the first game of the new year. His form continued as he scored again in the very next game. His third of the month came in the final game of January, winning against Telford. In other news, Guisley finally appointed a new manger. Nicky Forster signed a two year deal. Hopefully, the former Reading, Brighton and Brentford player will continue to support Pinder on his rise through the ranks and help Guisley gain promotion. In international news, there was a shock in the World Player of the Year award. Real Madrid midfielder Luka Modric beat teammate, Cristiano Ronaldo and ,favourite for the award, Lionel Messi to win the award. However, Messi claimed the World Golden Ball, while Tottenhams Erik Lamela was awarded European Golden Boy.

February
February was a short month which consisted of only three games for Pinder and his teammates. They managed to gain four points with a win, a draw and a loss. Pinder scored his second brace of the season in the win against Leamington. This saw him pick up the man of the match award. However, the other results saw them fall behind in the title race. They are now six points behind leaders, Stockport.

January Transfer Update 2014
Premier League
View attachment 411376
January proved inexpensive for english clubs, with many top sides keeping their hands in their pockets. The highest transfer was the move of Andriy Yarmolenko from Dynamo Kyiv to Tottenham for just over ?10million. Other transfer include Darren Fletcher to Everton for ?2.7million and Jermain Defoe to West Brom for ?2.3million. Davide Santon was sold to Shaktar for ?8.25million during February.

Europe

Overall transfers in Europe proved just as inexpensive. The exceptions were a ?20million move for Nemanja Matic to Napoli and a ?13.25million transfer for young swiss fullback Ricardo Rodriguez.

March-April 2014
March
March saw Guisley win three out of five games. However, Pinder only managed to score a single goal this month. He scored what proved to be the winner against North Ferriby in the 34th minute. He also started every game but was unable to add to his tally.

April
The month started poorly for Guisley, losing 2-1 to Telford. Liam Pinder's goal couldn't spark a comeback after scoring with 10 minutes left to play. However, later in the month, Pinder secured three points for his side after scoring a simple tap in on 15 minutes to beat Hednesford 1-0. Pinder then went on a good run of form, including getting two important goals away at Workington to secure a play-off place. The first leg of the play-offs came against Worcester who finish two points higher in the table. Guisley got off to the perfect start with Pinder scoring in the sixth minute. However, from there they went downhill. They lost a centreback to injury and then had a midfielder sent off. This then allowed Worcester to score twice either side of half time. While it looks grim for Guisley fans, they will hope Pinder can continue his scoring run and hit a few more against Worcester in the second leg.

May 2014
May
The second leg of the playoffs was a tense affair. Pinder got Guisley off to a great start. He scored the first goal of the game in the 47th minute. However, Worcester struck back just 15 minutes later, putting them ahead once more on aggregate. With time running out, fullback Macaulay Parkinson scored a bullet header from a corner. Nerves were put at ease somewhat when Guisley scored in the first six minutes of extra time. Midfielder, Darren Wilson, got sent off in the 115th minute to give a nervous end to a very close game. The play off final was a game against Altrincham. It was a very tight game with very little between both teams. The only goal of the game came for Guisley in the 70th minute and sends Guisley up to the Skrill Premier. Pinder came second in the goalscoring charts in the league. He managed to match the 16 goals scored by Mike Symons, but as he had played more games Pinder was placed in second.

Season Review 2013-2014

Liam Pinder had a season to remember as he helped Guisley to promotion. He finished with 16 goals in the league, making him Guisley's top scorer with more than three times the amount of goals of his nearest teammate. He also scored another three goals in cup competitions to bring his total goal tally to nineteen, a remarkable achievement for a 15 year old in his debut season. Guisley will be hoping to keep the promising youngster after reports of Premier League scouts watching him at the play-off final.

Breaking News: Guisley Have Accepted Bid For Pinder
We have just received word that Guisley have accepted a bid for the young star. The bid is believed to be from a top division side and is thought to be in the region of around ?10k. If it turns out to be true, Guisley will need to invest in a new striker as Pinder was their top scorer by a distance. Chairman of the Supporter's Trust said: 'We always knew this would happen sooner or later. Liam's got a bright future ahead of him and destined to play at a higher level than us. It's a shame if he goes, but if he does i'd like to thank him for his efforts in our promotion season'. In other news, England have manage to advance in the World Cup. Hodgson had been criticised after a draw against Iran and a loss against Spain, but the England boss saved himself from further criticism after a dominant 3-1 win agaisnt Chile. England will now play against Italy.

good story, man. but is there a chance we are about to see 5 years in the newcastle reserves?

Yeah probably, also Newcastle have got other decent prospects for striker e.g Adam Campbell. Hopefully he'll get sent out in loan, have Newcastle got any feeder clubs?

wow....12K is cheap! I've seen regens with the same ability at the same level go for 150K.
