I know, I was expecting a bit more than 12k especially with Guisley getting promoted you would've thought they'd drive a harder bargain. Then again they've just announced they're increasing capacity by 1000 so maybe it cost 12k!

Several big sides failed to advance past the group stages, including hosts Brazil. After being drawn what seemed a relatively simple group, the Brazilians were very disappointing. Whilst they won two out of three, they lost the head to head against Slovenia, seeing them crash out. In Group B, Argentina dominated while Portugal managed to see off a brave effort from the Black Stars of Ghana. In Group C, Germany lived up to pre-tournament expectations, winning all 3. However, underdogs Tunisia managed to hold onto a draw against Belgium in the last game to advance ahead of Vincent Kompany's men. Group D saw a dominant Holland advance alongside Russia. Group E saw the United States advance to the second round after three wins, including a 2-1 win over Uruguay. France also scraped through after an uneasy draw against Egypt. Group F contained a free-scoring Ivory Coast side who scored twelve times before qualifying for the next round. Lazio winger, Senad Lulic lead Bosnia and Herzegovina through also beating Columbia and Monaco striker, Radamel Falcao. England had to wait until the final game to guarantee their place in the next round with Spain in Group G. However, Hodgson's men pulled of an emphatic 3-1 victory over Chile. Guiseppe Rossi's impressive shooting saw Italy through in Group H, while Petr Cech sent the Czech Republic through with several impressive performances between the sticks.

I've got a feeling the lad will develop leaps and bounds at Newcastle, especially in comparison to his old team. Its better he develops in Newcastle's U18s than a 2nd or 3rd division side with much lesser facilities and coaching!

Buzz through a couple of seasons, I want to see how he improves! :D

World Cup 2014-Knockout Stages

Second Round
View attachment 410953
Turkey pulled off an impressive win against Portugal, while Lionel Messi's brace saw the Argentinians through. Germany finally lost on penalties, scoring only one of four to see Russia advance. Tunisia put up a brave fight against Holland, but were never expected to win. Bosnia and Hezegovina also managed a shock win against the in-form USA. Saloman Kalou proved too good for France, as his goal set the Ivory Coast towards a good win. Spain saw out an uncharacteristic win against the Czech, as they struggled for most of the game. England held on after a late Italy surge to beat them 2-1

Quarter Final

Two each for Robben and Huntelaar saw the dutch through with a comfortable win. Superior composure at the penalty shootout meant that Argentina went through. After a shocking start, England fought back to win 2-1. In the shock of the round, Ivory Coast knocked out holders Spain, after a Yaya Toure goal.

Semi-Final
View attachment 410937View attachment 410934
A late Dirk Kuyt goal was enough to see off the plucky African side. However, the Ivory Coast defence did exceptionally well to reduce the Dutch to one goal, as they were one of the top scoring teams of the tournament. After a tense first period, Argentina and England were level. However, English dreams were shattered as Lionel Messi scored a great goal in the 115th minute. England could'nt get any consolation as they lost on penalties in the third place play-off.

Final

While it was a close game possession wise, Argentina had twice as many shots. Finally, the Dutch defence caved in. Sergio Aguero slotted home on 27 minutes. Holland then threw everyone forwards looking for a goal. However, the Holland manager was criticised for not bringing on top scorer Arjen Robben or Robin van Persie. The Dutch efforts were in vain, as Argentina held on to win the World Cup for the third time.

Yeah, i think he'll do well at newcastle. They got quite good training and youth facilities. Hopefully he becomes the next Alan Shearer and not the next Nile Ranger!

Pre-Season 2014

Life at his new club, Newcastle, started well for young Pinder. He scored in his very first game for the club in Newcastle U21's friendly against Inverurie Locos. This got him noticed by Newcastle boss, Brian McDermot. The manager brought Pinder to replace Papiss Cisse in the 35th minute before been taken off in the 75th. He then traveled up to Scotland once more with the under 21's to Stranraer. He managed to score once again after 30 minutes. He was then called upon the very next day by McDermot to play against Fortuna Sitard. Pinder only made a brief cameo due to fatigue from travelling. However, this was more than enough to excite the travelling Newcastle fans. He scored a fantastic curling free kick in the 50th minute. He then came on again in Newcastle's next friendly, impressing again. This gave McDermot the confidence to start in the 2-0 win over Newport. Howver, before this he managed to continue his scoring form in the under 21's making three goals in three game with another goal against Airbus. Pinder's final appearance during pre-season was his first for the under 18's side. He scored the first goal in a 4-0 demolition of Gateshead under 18's.

Sorry guys won't be updating today as I'm at the doctors. So I thought I'd give you a little teaser for the next update. An opportunity arises and records are broken.

August 2014

August
Pinder started the month well with a goal in the first U21's fixture of the season, slotting home confidently against Aston Villa. He then followed this up with a goal in the U18 friendly agaisnt Gateshead. Two days later he played Gateshead again, this time in the U21's where he put in another good performance. He then impressed against Blackburn in the U21's. His performances in the U18's seemed to drop although this could be due to the high number of games he has played in this month. However, his under-par performances in the youth team didnt put off McDermott. His first ever game in the first team came against Blackburn in the Capital One Cup. He was trusted to start against the championship side, playing upfront with fellow Englishman Mason Bennett. He was substituted after 78 minutes, unfortunately unable to make an impact against a strong defence. However, the youngster was delighted to play for the first time in the famous black and white. McDermott's trust saw Pinder go into the record books. He became Newcastles youngest ever player. He said 'I'm absolutely ecstatic to get my first start for the club. I never even realised about the record. However, I'm not letting it go to my head. I'm just going to keep working hard in training trying to impress the boss.' Pinder received even more good news a few days later. He has been called up to Noel Blake's England under 19's squad.

Summer Transfer Update 2014

Premier League
View attachment 410129View attachment 410128View attachment 410127View attachment 410126
Premier League owners decided to splash their cash in this window, with several big money moves materialising in the off-season. One of these was Chelsea's massive deal for Xherdan Shaquiri, spending in excess of ?45million. Chelsea continued their raid of FC Bayern by capturing Mario Mandzukic for ?21.5million. They also secured the services of Chris Smalling for ?17.25million. However, this big spending saw the loss of Lukaku, Schurrle, Marin and de Bruyne. Manchester City mad up for the loss of Aguero and Nastasic, by spending nearly ?100million on players including Michu and Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain. Arsenal also strengthened with the like of Angel di Maria and Antoine Griezmann. Tottenham looked at improving on their poor performance last year by signing Luis Muriel and Tom Cleverly.

September-October 2014

September
In September, Pinder made the first representative appearance of his career. He came on at halftime for the England Under 19's but was unable to influence the result as they slid to a 2-1 loss against Japan. He then made his second appearance for the under 19's a few days later against Switzerland. On his return to Newcastle, he played and scored against Blackburn U18's. He then followed this up with a goal against Manchester City U21's.

October
Pinder continued his form in the under 21's, scoring again against Middlesborough.Pinder was then once again selected to represent England at under 19 level. He came on in both games as a sub, impressing manager Noel Blake. When he got back to the north of England, he went on a good run in the under 18's. He scored two in two games, once each against Derby and Norwich. This caught the eye of Brian McDermott, leading to him being named in the squad for the cup game against Leicester. Unfortunately, due to the good form of Mason Bennett, he was unable to get on.

November-December 2014
November
For most of November, Pinder was quite disappointing. He was unable to score this month, despite being involved in six games. However, he was much better at international level. Pinder started in the game against Switzerland, managing to score his first ever goal for a representative side. Pinder said 'It's a relief to finally get off the mark for my country. Hopefully I can score a lot more for both Newcastle and for England'.

December
December was a very short month for Pinder, with him only being involved in five games. He was still unable to score in the under 18's, however his performances were a lot better. He was much better in the under 21's however, scoring his first goal in the under 21's since the start of October.

January-February 2015

January
Pinder started the month well, making up for his recent drop in form. He scored his first of the month against a strong Southampton U18 side. He carried on his upturn in form by scoring in the very next game. He scored a great goal from outside the box to equalise for Newcastle. This led Brian McDermott to start him against Watford in the Capital One Cup Semi-Final. Newcastle went through 4-3 on aggregate. They will now play Everton in the final. Pinder also signed a pre-contract with Newcastle, which comes into effect on 1/4/2016.

February
February was a short month, Pinder played in only two games this month. His first came against West Ham U18's. He slotted home confidently after being put through one on one. His second game of the month came against Tottenham. He managed to score the winner in a hard fought, close game. His other appearance this month came in the win against Everton U21. He didn't get on the scoresheet, but played well after coming on in the 62nd minute.

March-April 2015
March
March only consisted of four games for Pinder. He only played a small part in the under 21's, coming on late as a sub in both games. However, he played a much larger role in the under 18's. He played well against Chelsea, before scoring against Fulham. Unfortunately, Pinder suffered an injury in training cutting his month shirt. He damaged his foot, leaving him on the sidelines for two weeks. This also caused him not to be selected in Noel Blake's England Under 19's Squad.

April
Due to the injury, Pinder missed much of April. This, coupled with the end of the end of the under age team's season, meant he only played in two games this month. He played well in the under 21's game against Derby after coming on. He finished his season with a slightly disappointing performance against West Brom in the Under 18's.

End of Season Review 2014-2015

Liam Pinder will be happy with his first season on Tyneside. He played over fifty games at different levels, performing quite well. However, may be a bit disappointed with only getting a goal return of 17. His first season also saw him become Newcastle's youngest ever player. He managed to appear twice for the first team, showing he is in Brian McDermott's plans. He was also called up to represent England at youth level. He will be hoping he can get more first team games under his belt next year and maybe with a good showing in pre-season can win himself a place.
