From the UK to the USA and beyond - An Englishman's Journey

20 games played and we are sat on level points with Liverpool, with only Manchester United and Manchester City leading us on points. We are 9 points clear of 8th placed Everton and if we can continue in this form, we'll be on course for Europe this year. We are on course for the greatest season in the clubs history. We also have Liverpool in the Carabao Cup Semi-Final next month. We are gradually getting a few injured players back and that'll help. We've had to deal with 3 and 4 week injuries for Cuesta, Gutierrez and Henrique. Leandro Paredes and Diogo Jota are both on the long term injury list but we're hoping to have them back near February.

The FA Cup took us away to Bristol Rovers in the third round. That game us an opportunity to play some of our squad players and try and get some players out of form, back into it. It took just two minutes for Gonzalo Martinez to open the scoring. Cucho then tucked our second home and his 18th of the season already! Zaha added our third shortly after and Gonzalo Martinez followed up with our fourth. A dominant performance. Cucho grabbed his second and our 5th in the 67th minute. Professional performance from the lads who got the job done comfortably and ensured there was no cup magic here.

Erling Haaland lashed past our keeper early on to give Liverpool a 1-0 lead. Lucas then went close to equalising a minute later but was denied. Nakajima wins Liverpool a penalty and Dybala tucks away to make it 2-0. A great start from Liverpool. Dael Fry managed to nod home past Alisson from a long throw to give us a chance going into the last 15 minutes of the 1st half. Douglas Costa left Arnold for dead but couldn't finish it off.Wilfred Zaha decides that it's a good idea to play the entire second half with 45 minutes, two-footing a Liverpool player immediately after the start of the season half. ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS. The same combo of Vagnoman and Dael Fry combine to level the game up at 2-2! Astonishing stuff from the boys! A scramble at a corner falls to the feet of Correa who pokes home on 72 minutes after keeping Liverpool quiet for the 2nd half. We lose 3-2 to Liverpool in the 1st Leg but we have the 2nd Leg at Selhurst Park to look forward to and we showed some real character today. Zaha will miss the second leg.

Back to Premier League action and home against strugglers Bristol City. Within a minute, we had our lead, a beautiful through ball from Tonali found Okereke who applied the finish. Douglas Costa was then denied by the crossbar. Ayrton Lucas then stepped up with an absolute worldbeater of a strike to hammer home our second past Bristol keeper Bentley. Despite the sleet, it was a red hot first half performance going in 2-0 up at the break. Fry twice almost added a third from successive corners but Bentley was equal both times. Dael Fry finally beat keeper Bentley from a long throw, making it 3-0 and securing the points. Cengiz Under was then denied by the woodwork of making it 4. Ze Luis did run the length of the pitch for Bristol City to score a consolation goal with just 10 minutes remaining but the points were already ours. Professional performance at home from the lads, couldn't ask any more of them.

We next went to Wolverhamton to face Wolves. Despitedominating the stats, we found ourselves 1-0 through a Conor Coady goal. We weren't able to equalise until the 75th minute. Cucho Hernandez smashing home his 20th of the season with a phenomenal strike! We then started to press for the winner. Dael Fry managed to grab what we hoped would be the winner with a brilliant header from a Under corner. A fantastic turn-around and an even better result! 2-1 win away at Molineux!

The next trip of our Premier League campaign is away against Aston Villa. They've done brilliantly to climb the table this year and always get a good result against us. Within 25 minutes, Douglas Costa gave us the lead, quickly followed by a Diogo Jota double (on his return). That put us in a commanding 3-0 position as we approached the half way mark. Dael Fry continued his imrepssive goalscoring form with another header to put us 4-0 into the lead before HT. Aston Villa won a penalty and El Ghazi converted after a mistake from Kenny. El Ghazi grabbed his second from a free kick to make it 4-2. Another fantastic three points but we did slow down in the 2nd half. This makes it an incredible 12 GAMES UNBEATEN!

Back to Selhurst Park to welcome Brighton for a 'derby'. Using the term very loosely. Dael Fry struck home from ANOTHER corner to give us a 1-0 lead early on against Brighton. Cucho then doubled our advantage on the hour mark with a wonderful finish past Ryan. Zaha wrapped the points up on 79 minutes latching onto a through ball and putting past the despairing Ryan. Cengiz Under added to the rout on 84 minutes running through one on one with the keeper and making no mistake. We then won penalty and Cucho made no mistakes as usual. 5-0 thumping at Selhurst Park and another great three points in the Premier League.

The FA Cup rolls into town next, with Bournemouth taking a trip up to Selhurst Park to play us in the 4th Round. Solanke got the lead off a deflection for the visitors. Gutierrez equalised for us tucking past the Bournemouth keeper after a lengthy time out through injury. A mistake from Kenny then allowed Fraser to sneak in at the back post and restore their lead. Zaha levelled proceedings with a wonderful smart finish. Both sides will have to settle for a replay at Turf Moor.

THE QUALITY OF COLUMBIA STRIKES AGAIN

Screenshot 2020-04-25 at 20.21.46.png

We are currently losing 3-2 on Aggregate after the first game but were confident we could turn it around at home. Cucho put us level overall in the first 20 minutes after latching onto a through ball from Jota and putting into Alissons net after rounding him. Haaland was able to equalise for the away side on the night and take it back to 4-3 ion aggregate in Liverpools favour but that lasted just 1 minute! Cucholatched onto another pass and tucked away to make it 2-1 on the night and 4-4 on aggregate. HT.
A NIGHTMARE MOMENT FOR DE JONG IN THE SECOND HALF! As the ball is running towards his keeper he touches it back but not hard enough and Cucho nips in and smashes home his hat-trick to make it 3-1 on the night! That is also Cucho's 50th goal for Crystal Palace, an astonishing achievement in such quick time! 5-4 on aggregate we now lead with 20 minutes to play. Cuesta then headed home from a corner from Tonali and made it 4-1 on the night and 6-4 on aggregate giving us a huge advantage. A monumental performance from the boys sees us into the Carabao Cup final for only the second time in the clubs history, both times it was myself who led them to this final and I am overjoyed to get the boys to another one! They deserve it! What a performance and we have a fantastic cup final to look forward to now!

The final game of the month will see us take on Fulham. After an amazing month, we'd love to wrap it up with a win in the Premier League at home against struggling side. Seri gave us a fantastic opportunity to get the lead and Cucho obliged and put the penalty in the back of the net. Cuesta then added 2nd within a few minutes for 2-0 in the first 11 minutes. 21 minutes in and surely the points have been wrapped up, Cucho latching on and tucking home another for 3-0. On 31 mins, Seri made the most of a goalmouth scramble to poke home 3-1. We held on till half time to go in 3-1 up.Skipper Tonali was then sent off in the 50th minute! We were able to shuffle the pack to bring on Monchu to play a 4-4-1 and we were able to hold on till the final whistle.

A spectacular month sees us flying high in third place, just 9 points off 1st placed Manchester City and 5 points off Manchester United. We are having an amazing season and I couldn't be any prouder of the boys. We are doing sensational, only losing three games all year and currently on a 14-match unbeaten run which is unheard of at Crystal Palace. We are breaking all kinds of records for the club and I couldn't be any prouder.

Just one arrival in January and that is on loan. SERGE GNABRY arrives from Bayern Munich on loan for the remainder of the season. We have the option to make it permanent for £50 million. He will be another fantastic option going into the final stretch of the season. He was listed for transfer but I wanted to see whether he fit into the way we play, if he does, I can look at using next seasons funds to sign him in. He is a top class winger and should offer lots of creativity.

Talented youngsters King-Harmes, Kevin Gonzalez, Scott Banks, Mitchell all leave on loan. Reece Yiga, who was lacking in potential, it allowed to to go, future incentives included and a clause for a future sell-on fee. Andros Townsend was not playing regularly and wanted to leave so we cashed in for £2.5 million. He was also taking a fairly big wage home a week and we were happy to shed ourselves of that and free up space for younger and the better Serge Gnabry.

Bournemouth took the lead through a penalty after a mistake from Lucas but Cucho waited late until the second half to score the equaliser nodding past Smithies who'd been sensational. 1-1 after 90 minutes means its extra time here. Okereke latched onto a brilliant header back across by Dael Fry in the 105+1st minute to give us a 1-0 lead going into HT in Extra Time. It was enough for us to seal our passage through to the next round of the FA Cup.

JOB DONE The next round gives us another huge chance to go through, as we will take on Wigan Athletic at home. Wigan are currently 23rd in the Championship..

The next game saw us come up against Leicester City FC at the King Power Stadium. Soyuncu holds back Diogo Jota and Cucho tucks away the penalty in the bottom right hand corner. 1-0 in 15 minutes. That was the way it stayed until half time. That was enough to give us another fantastic three points away from home and continue on our momentum. The Crystal Palace war machine continues to bulldoze EVERYTHING in its path! Leandro Paredes and co are recovering and almost back to full fitness aswell. We have a fantastic squad togetherness and we are able to break anyone down no matter which players in my squad I select on the day. A fantastic feeling.

Our next game, we welcome Spurs to Selhurst Park. Cengiz Under got to the ball ahead of Livakovic for Spurs and poked into an empty net for 1-0 within 10 minutes. Diogo Jota added our second with the second bite to make it 2-0 on 15 minutes. Nelson Semedo gets one back for Spurs before the half hour break but Cucho wipes the goal ou scoring one of his own to make it 3-1. Half Time at Selhurst Park and we lead 3-1 against 5th placed Tottenham. Davinson Sanchez secured the points for us, netting against his own side in the 80th minute to make it 4-1. Full time and the march goes on. Another huge win over a London rival. Another giant slain. 7 on the spin!

The final Premier League game of the month sees us travel to Chelsea's Stamford Bridge. Despite Chelsea having the first few chances, it was us who took the lead, Cengiz Under needing no more invitation before cutting in and curling left footed into the far corner. 1-0. Diogo Jota was then set up by Cengiz Under to round Kepa and add our second of the afternoon. Under is running Chelsea ragged forcing Kepa into multiple saves. Cengiz was then slid in by Cucho to add our third and his second of the game. A thoroughly convincing performance from the boys in the opening 30 minutes. HT 3-0 at Stamford Bridge. Cengiz Under completed a stunning hat trick 63 minutes in with a beautiful effort past Kepa. 4-0 and absolutely cruising here at Stamford Bridge. Reece James made a fantastic run down the right hand side and converted to give some dignity back to the home Chelsea fans. Zaha does brilliantly to complete our rout off making it 5-1. UNSTOPPABLE.

After a quiet first half, Man City sneak a late goal to make it 1-0, scoring from a corner. Really frustrating way to concede in any game, let alone a final. Cucho went a whisker away from equaliser in the 75th minute striking the post after some good work. Diogo was then denied by Plizarri. THE DESERVED EQUALISER DOES FINALLY COME FROM A SENSATIONAL FREE KICK FROM SUBSTITUTE MONCHU! ON FOR THE TIRED TONALI! WHAT A FREE KICK TO KEEP US IN THE GAME! 1-1, SUPERB CHARACTER!!

Sheer grit and determination is why that goal came about and we deserved it! Extra Time it was! After lots of half chances, it stays 1-1 all the way through extra time! Diakhaby comes on to replace a shattered and booked Cuesta. Their final substitute Gabirel Jesus has to come off injured leaving them with ten men for the last 3 minutes of normal time and 3 minutes of added time! AND IN STOPPAGE TIME OF THE SECOND PERIOD OF EXTRA TIME THE UNTHINKABLE HAPPENS! A DIOGO JOTA FREEKICK CANNONS BACK OFF THE CROSS BAR AND LEFT BACK LUCAS IS ON HAND TO TAP HOME A FAMOUS GOAL!!!!! PANDEMONIUM IN THE STANDS!!

The FA Cup gives Leandro Paredes to return to first team action after being out for quite a while with a torn ankle ligament. He started alongside Milvojevic against Wigan who came to Selhurst Park looking to cause an upset to distract them from their league woes. Diakhaby opened the scoring and Cengiz Under continued his fine form adding the second. In the second half we continued our good form, Milvojevic adding the third and Okereke emphatically dispatching a penalty to make it 4. We cruise through to the next round of the FA Cup, leaving Wigan going home licking their wounds. 4-0 FT at Selhurst Park.

Delighted to draw Watford at home in the Quarter Final of the FA Cup. They've been poor this year in the league, sitting desperately 19th position. We've made Selhurst Park a fortress this year and I'll be playing a strong side and trying to reach another semi final!

Our next game pits us up against Burnley at home. Burnley are 18th and have been struggling this year and we intend the pile the misery on them. It only took 2 minutes for Under to cross a beautiful head onto Cuesta's head for his 5th of the season. One minute later, Cucho joined the party to make it 2-0 and Burnley were rocked and on the ropes already. We have been unplayable at times this year. 2-0 at HT. Cucho, Fry and Tonali added three more to make it five, Burnley getting a consolation in the 84th minute. Another comfortable win at Selhurst Park which we've been formidable at.

Our next game sees us travel to the blue side of Merseyside to take on Everton. A shocking first half saw us fall two goals before at half time. An out of character display from the lads. After some very stern words at the interval, it took just one minute for us to get back in the game, Cucho scoring a fantastic goal from a Paredes pass to give us a chance. 2-1. Despite hammering away at the Everton door, they're able to beat us 2-1 in the end. Unlucky from the lads.

It took 25 minutes for Cucho Hernandezto open his account for the afternoon against his old club. The cracks then began to show in the Watford defence, Diogo Jota doubling our advantage with a lovely finish. Hagi did get one back for Watford on 35 minutes, just three minutes later. Chalobah then gave away a penalty but Cucho couldn't double our advantage. Cucho ran through twice afterwards but couldn't secure our lead. It remained 2-1. Greif having a fantastic game in between the sticks for Watford. Despite multiple attempts, going into the 55th minute it was still 2-1 to us. Despite a staggering 27 shots and 7 clean cut chances, it stayed 2-1. WE ARE THROUGH TO THE SEMI FINAL OF THE FA CUP! Another HUGE chance to get to ANOTHER final!

The lads are still getting used to my tactics and that is still showing. Despite that and our missing players, we took the lead through Bayo after 28 minutes. We made three changes at the break and scored straight after the second half whistle. Cornet tucking home a through ball. 2-0. Gnaka then hammered home a thunderous drive from outside the box on 90 minutes to ensure the victory. A very strong, confident performance against a higher ranked opponent.

The next game sees us come up against Cameroon. Another good chance to play good opponents and get the squad used to the way that I play ready for the AFCON. We make a couple of changes to ensure people are fully fit. Aurier, Gnaka, Pepe all drop to the bench. Loba, Traore, Sor, Djidji and Konan all come in. We conceded first through a Nkoulou header. Loba went straight up the other end and scored but it didn't last for long. Lamkel Ze scoring for the visitors. Among managed grab another for the visitors to make it 3-1. We are struggling to cope with Cameroon at the back but it is a much changed back four. Kessie then got a straight red.. Certainly not our day in any way, shape or form.. A silly mistake at the back allowed Cameroon to grab their 4th. Mande having an absolute shambles in goal with Tie injured... A poor result but not too fussed as this was littered with changes.

Southampton took the lead in the 12th minute and after lots of hammering on the or, Ayrton Lucas smashed home the equaliser to make it 1-1. It remained that way until half time with Forster denying us on a few occasions. Unfortunately, we couldn't pick the lock and it remained 1-1 until the final whistle.

Next, we welcome Manchester United to Selhurst Park. We're desperate to get the win here as we are close to finishing in the Champions League places. It took just one minute for us to break the deadlock. Jota tapping home from a deflection to make it 1-0. Cucho doubled our advantage with a wonderful finish after being set up by Gonzalo Martinez. We created numerous opportunities but wasn't able to treble ourqdvantage. De Gea pulling out a number of fantastic saves to keep Manchester United in the game. Diogo Jota thought he'd sealed the points but was unfortunately ruled offside. We were able to hold on until the final whistle for another historic victory against Manchester United. 2-0 and well deserved.

Next we take on rock bottom Watford at home. We'll be hoping to continue our steamrollering form by picking up a victory here. Diogo latched onto a flick on from Cucho, and tucked it away past Greif. 1-0, 14 minutes in. Paredes then played an extremely clever pass to find Zaha at the back post after dummying to shoot and Zaha tucked it away. A great performance from the boys. Bradaric then hammered one home from outside the box but it was disallowed. Gonzalo Martinez was able to add our third though shortly after from a wonderful free kick. 3-0. Cucho then added the fourth after extra time with a wonderful finish against his old club, making it three against his old club this season. Diakhaby sealed the result, 5-0 after a wonderful header. A thumping emphatic three points at home against lowly Watford.

Fry
, Lucas and Vagnoman are all out suspended so Cuesta, Kenny and Bradaric return. Paredes is also suspended so we bring Henrique in.

A very quiet first half ends 0-0. There wasn't to many chances either way. Both sides seemingly feeling each other out. Despite a more exciting second half, we were unable to break the deadlock. It remained 0-0 until the full time whistle meaning it was going to need Extra Time for the sem-final to be decided! Manchester City broke the deadlock in the second half through Mudryk. 1-0. HT in Extra Time and its 1-0, City. Manchester City were able to hold on until the final whistle. Unfortunate from the lads but a very good performance to get this far.

The next game saw us back in the Premier League and travelling to Bournemouth. A fantastic finish from Cucho Hernandez means he has 37 now for the season. He doubled his tally, making it 2-0 on 31 minutes to give us a cushion. We kept it 2-0 until HT. Vagnoman rattled in a 3rd after the half time break to secure the points. McTominay was able to grab a consolation in the 72nd minute. A shocking backless from Mepham gave it straight to Cucho Hernandez who had the easiest job in the world in passing into the empty net.

Selhurst Park next, Arsenal rolled into town locking to beat us. Hoping to win as many of our last four games as we can! A fantastic start as Josha Vagnoman gives us the lead after 29 minutes, a brilliant run from the young man. Tonali wrapped the post from 25 yards. It stayed 1-0 until half time. We then won a penalty in the second half but Cucho somehow managed to fail to find the back of the net, it stayed 1-0 on 48 minutes. Diogo and Lucas took turns stinging the hands of Leno but it remained 1-0 as it came towards the 65 minute mark. A superb flowing move from back to front ends up with Tonali but again Leno is equal to it to beat it away. Sub Diego Costa then went extremely close to adding our second, Leno again showing his class. The longer it goes without the 2nd going in the more worried you get. Cengiz Under struck the cross bar and the ball agonisingly rolled across the line before going being punted away. 1-0 it stays! Jota also had one cleared from the line. Leno then denied Okereke from a corner late in the second half. Pepe almost got the visitors back into the game but Vaandevoordt was equal to it acrobatically tipping over. We were able to hold on though for another sensational three points!

Going into our next game, we have an outside chance of winning the Premier League... if we can beat Manchester City and they lose the rest of their games and we win the rest of ours, we can be crowned Premier League champions. There is a lot of ifs and buts included but its still a huge chance. We travel to the Etihad in our final game of April. Can we get a result?

Kingsley Coman gave the league leaders the lead at the Etihad with a good header after some smart work from Cancelo. Gonzalo Martinez went close from a freekick on the edge of the box and Diogo Jota was denied by Ederson acrobatically at the front post to ensure Man City went in leading 1-0. VAGNOMAN AND PAREDES PLAY AMAZING FOOTBALL BETWEEN THEM, IT GETS VAGNOMAN IN DOWN THE RIGHT AND JOTA TUCKS HOME THE CROSS FOR 1-1! GAME ON! Man City defender Aymeric Lapore is SENT OFF! Man City down to 10. Vagnoman took no time stinging the gloves of Ederson shortly after. Coman robs out defender and strides through to make it 2-1! So frustrating! Tonali then rattled the bar looking for the equaliser. Absolute robbed, we outplayed Manchester City and if we continue like this, we could be coming for the Premier League title next year however they are crowned Champions and looking at their emphatic record, you can hardly say they don't deserve it.

Manchester City are crowned Premier League Champions for the second year in a row. We've all but sealed Champions League football which is UNTHINKABLE for Crystal Palace. With two games left, we can finish 2nd, this is what I'll be aiming for going into the final two fixtures in May. I'll now start to contemplate whether I stay at Crystal Palace or whether I leave with my contract expiring at the end of the season.

I've walked away - I will discuss this at the end of the year with others clubs sniffing around me. A Champions League adventure with Crystal Palace does sound amazing but I want to see what happens with the takeover.

We are eager to stay as high in the league as we can. We will come up against West Ham at Selhurst Park. West Ham take an early lead through Fornals. Diogo Jota wasn't able to equalise after being flagged offside despite tucking in. Mouctar Diakhaby is ableto ewualise with a header on the half hour mark. Cucho rattled home his 40th of the season and 50th league goal in Crystal Palace colours. 2-1 and the comeback was fully complete. Cucho then got his 41st of the season and second of the afternoon. What a season for the talented Colombian. Another Colombian got in on the action, adding a 4th and making it 4-1. Cucho Hernandez completed the rout and his hat trick making it 5-1. Another emphatic display from the boys gives us another three points.

It took just one minute for us to take the lead against Newcastle, who'd been struggling all year and came into this game in 18th place. Leandro Paredes smashed a thumping drive home from 25 yards to give us a 2-0 lead and all but secure our second placed position. Sandro Tonali then secured all three points just 23 minutes in with another genius of a goal. Wilfried Zaha made it 4 before the break to mark a fantastic afternoons work for the Eagles.

What a great performance from the lads. An absolutely outstanding way to end an outstanding season, this win secures us a 4th placed finish and gives puts us directly into the Champions League Group Stage.

WHAT A SEASON. The greatest season in my football managing history. How amazing. 2nd Placed finish. Full season review on the next post.

Just can't thank the players and my back room staff enough. In any other season, we could have won the Premier League. We beat teams with huge spending budgets like Liverpool, Manchester United, Tottenham, Arsenal and Chelsea. WHAT AN ACHIEVEMENT!

As I pulled into a swanky high-end restaurant car park, I immediately noticed the entire restaurant had been cleared for me. Upon entering, Ed Woodward greeted me wearing a wonderful Manchester United blazer and cream coloured chinos. He extended his hand out, revealing £1 million dollar white teeth and peppermint breath. He introduced me to a number of directors and other backroom staff and asked me to sit down... I couldn't believe it.. I was interviewing for the job of Manchester United manager. WOW.....

Screenshot 2020-04-26 at 21.34.09.png

Roy Hodgson will be rolling in his grave if you take the job! SCENES!

Please see the poll on the opening page mate! I've been offered the role of Manchester United manager! Do I take the job??

What a season, cracking! Looking forward to the net update. I reckon stay with Palace for the first champions league campaign and try and win the league as the next challenge.

The phone rang...... it felt as though time had stopped. I could already see the Manchester United badge for the icon and that name 'Ed Woodward'... This was it.. This was a defining moment in my life, today I find out whether or not I have been offered the position of the manager of the largest football club in the country, if not the world. It's exciting and nauseating all at the same time. I took a deep breath and answered the call.

Struggling to contain myself, miss clicking the hang up button and putting Ed Woodward on speaker, TWICE. Ifinally managed to put the phone down... I couldn't believe it..

I'VE BEEN OFFERED THE POSITION OF MANCHESTED UNITED MANAGER..... I RAN TO THE TOILET TO THROW UP... ALL THE UNITED MEMORIES FLOWING THROUGH MY HEAD... THIS WAS IT..... I COULD BE THE MANAGER OF MANCHESTER UNITED?!
