Alot of Hodgson's Fulham team were British/English speaking, to name a few..
Konchesky
Schwarzer (Australian but obviously English is his home language)
Dempsey (same as Schwarzer)
Hughes
Baird
Davies
Zamora
Johnson
Duff
Murphy
Greening
Kelly
Smalling (before he moved obviously but Hodgson had him whilst he was there)
And probably a few more I've missed out.. Point is I think communication and shape is very important to Hodgson in his tactics, and having a team that all fluently speak the same language from birth is a big bonus in his eyes. Out of those players I've named from Fulham, you could have a starting eleven there easily, and I think he's trying to recreate that sort of thing at Liverpool.
