All three teams had home games and all three teams won. We held our nerve brilliantly, romping to a win against Southampton, a throwback to earlier in the season when we were excellent, Cairney and Seri in particular. Probably our best performance since we beat Arsenal away in February. This put pressure on both Newcastle and especially Everton - who knew they had to win against Chelsea to stay in with a chance of claiming a European place. Both teams romped to victory, Everton's particularly impressive, leaving a simple final day scenario - win and we are in the Europa League, lose and it is out of our hands...
An absolute shambles of a display from us, beyond furious with the team. We showed absolutely nothing in our biggest match of the season. It was out of our hands, all we could do was hope that Wolves could do something against Everton, although Wolves had nothing to play for except for pride...
As is clear from our average ratings - our midfield were the crux of our side. Cairney and Seri with excellent average ratings from our starters as well as Johansen who played a big role off the bench. Mitrovic finishing with 18 goals is a very respectable tally and Cairney managed to hit 12 in all comps. Luciano Vietto managed 21 goal involvements over the course of the season and a special mention for Cyrus Christie who had a solid season. I definitely want to see more off of Kristoffer Ajer next season.
