Hi, Been playin FM years and can always get my full backs to be great going forward ( not overly attacking setting either) but so bad at defending. Wingers either go past them easily or the FB has left them alone in plenty of space. this lets the winger in to cross and my centre backs look bad then.

Any Ideas? i concede most of my goals this way. its the same with quality FB's or lower league

cheers

If you're getting too much crosses in your box then it must be a problem of width. Try setting your width to wider. The opposite goes if your getting too much through balls from the middle of the pitch.

Set your full backs to mark man not zone, spread them wider and try to pull your defensive line a bit deeper.

cheers,

I have experimented with this, maybe it the full back itself, usually i buy attacking full backs as i rely on there width. What mentality do u set your FB;s with e.g attacking, auto etc.

My Full Back trick is simple
I wont give you my attacking secret you'll need to download my tactic for that
But I'll give you some free advice on really improving their defending
Set player instructions on both FB's to tight marking (I use zonal not man puts too much emphasis on the players marking attribute)
Hope I helped
