Had a number of screenshots saved up so thought I would finally get round to sticking them in here.
I had a young CM / DM who's contract was due to expire at the end of the season. As the season started, I was still not completely convinced by him (in terms of if he would progress) and at the time, didn't think he warranted the wage he was asking for. As he was only backup and wasn't worth a huge amount / didn't cost a lot, I decided to wait until just before Christmas and review the situation then.
I can't remember when it was but after a little while, he informed me he would be leaving on a free at the end of the season and would not sign a new contract. I wasn't that bothered as he still wasn't developing that well (partly due to the lack of game time I guess) and when I tried to give him games, he just wasn't playing well enough. Even so, as it got closer to the new year, I decided to see if he would change his mind (more out of curiosity than anything else). He still wasn't interested, so I decided to have a chat with him, to see if that would help.

I had tried it once or twice before that as well and each time was the same - I want to stay so I'm willing to negotiate only to tell me he's not interested when I tried to.
Once his main contract had expired he then decided to stay at the club on a month to month contract for another month or two. Yet still:

In the end, I think he left on a free to Malaga at the end of the season, although I got £1.3mill through a tribunal (I think).

I got this message in my inbox. Only thing is, I'm not trying to sell him, he's doesn't want to leave and he's just finished a season where he's played 45 games so is an important member of my squad (and I don't think he even had an asking price set).

At first I thought this was a bug as he had already played a few games for Uruguay (just assumed at least one would be competitive). But then I realised that because of the way South American countries qualify for the world cup, Uruguay have had pretty much a year of friendlies between the previous world cup and their next competitive game. So despite this guy already making three appearances for Uruguay (he is now up to ten), all ten of them have been in friendlies, making him still eligible for Italy.
(I know this happens in real life - Carl Jenkinson etc - but I've never seen a big player still be eligible for multiple countries after so many international appearances - normally after one or two they would have played in a competitive match so would have chosen their country for good.)

As a manager, you would think it would be fairly normal to watch your youth teams play some of the time. Apparently though, if you are also an international manager, the media get a little confused and forget what your main job is.

Skrtel has been a legend at the club for a while now (above Gerrard, Carragher, Fowler and the other retired people I should add, who are all still 'only' icons) so don't know if that effected it or not - still a nice touch though I thought, even if it is just a variation of a similar question.
