Gap between defence and midfield too big

Anyone any ideas to close the gap between defenders and midfield, I just can't seem to figure it out

Just play a DM as a BWM, really effective in that gap for this game

Thanks Jordankonieczka, I play a flat 4-4-2 so I just put one midfielder to deep lying playmaker with support and one attacker to deep lying forward with support. all gaps are filled, thanks again

it ur playing 4-2-3-1 dontplay with your cm's as ball winners play witha box 2 box midfielder on supper and deep lying playmaker on defend but crucial for this tactic the cms need to have good marking positioning tackling passing players like de rossi carrick busquetz sebastian rode etc

you could alsotry pushing the defence higher but would leave u exposed to through balls
