Hi everyone,

I'm doing a Gateshead story with no signings, so I can only work with the players I've got. I have 3 good strikers (1 with pace, all 3 smallish and without good strength or headers, but rather better technique), all an average defence (with no good attacking fullbacks), and some good central midfielders who can play either attacking or defensive. There is basically no winger to speak of.

So I want to develop two tactics, an attacking and a defensive one.

For the attacking tactic I have gone 4-2-1-3 with 2 centre mids, 1 attacking mid and a flat 3 up front. This is the only way I can fit my good players into the system. I also don't have a specialist defensive midfielder.

I have a standard Cb pairing, a defensive and a supporting fullback, one defensive and one supporting CM, my AMC is an enganche, and I have a deep lying forward supporting on the same side as the supporting FB, an Advanced Forward on the other side and a Poacher in the Middle.

I've gone for Instructions such as Play Narrow, Higher Tempo, Work Ball into box and shorter passes.

I've never used a flat 3 up front before and I really have no idea how to accommodate them all! But it's the only way I can use my good players!

Also I want a defensive formation, I've not yet created this but I was thinking basically the same formation but with the poacher swapped out for another CB so it'd be a 5-3-2, with all the ball retention type sliders on.

Any help? I really have no idea how to format these 3 strikers, and how to not make my AMC redundant, as I feel the deep lying FW and the AMC are basically going to be doing the same job?

Cheers!
