Getting smashed in friendlies?

Alright, so I'm doing this challenge ahere you get 500mil to spend and to turn the club into the best team in the world... I'm letting my assistant do the friendlies, and I'm getting smashed every friendly by clubs that are not even in a league!!! I took charge of one, and won 5 - 0... so what's going wrong? I'm telling him to use my tactics, so whats he doing?

He might be playing a very young squad with your worst players from your reserves. This is all i can think of.

Is there anyway to stop that, or shouldn't I be worried?

As far as i know, you can holiday the friendlies and select use current tactics and select use current team selection
