Hi guys.

I'm currently working on emulating Aalborg BK's tactic. In this past season they've played with two wide midfielders (Kasper Kusk and Nicolaj Thomsen) who are positioned on the flanks, but drifts inside whenever Aalborg has the ball.

In FM i can't seem to emulate this behavior. They both have the PPM "cuts inside", and i'm plain them as wide midfielders (support). Additionally i have two wing backs (attack) who are told to overlap. I have the most part of the possession, but when i look at the two players position on the pitch, they are usually stationed on their flanks.

I really want to have the team defend in a 4-4-2 formation, so playing them centrally and man mark the oppositions full backs are not an option.

Therefore i'm looking for some pointers on how to getting wide midfielders playing centrally.

Thx.

Cut inside is instruction for players with ball. If you want them to enter to center of field, you better try with sit narrower.

Don't know why i didn't think of that. I've told my wide players to swap position, which seems to help a little. Any other recommendations?

Maybe if you tell your wide players to go further forward, and order team to play narrow, and told your wingbacks to stay wider?

You could try with players on AMC position that will mark opponent fb-s. This way defensivly you will get 4-4-2 formation, and offensevly you will get formation that you want as well. Downside is that they will tire much more then usualy.

The trick with man marking isn't an option because i want to use zonal marking. I already told them to go "further forward" and i have my wing backs to "stay wider".

Thanks for your input though. I'm not sure there are many other options to emulate the behavior, but if anyone has any ideas i will greet them.

I was looking to do something similar with Tottenham except that I wanted my CWBs to take a more central role (almost like CM) while my two DMs were behind them and my CAM was in front, leaving me with 6 players in the midfield and an obvious midfield overload to try and win/keep possession high in my opponent's defensive end. Unfortunately, they won't seem to do it no matter how hard I try and they ended up just being useless in both attack and defense.
