can u post a screenshot.30 is young for a gk,i would think he has 4 or 5 years left

30 is young for a goalie they usually mature around that age. In one of my saves he is going strong still at 33 I have however, found a young gk who I'm now grooming as his successor. Not quite the finished article but he is only 18.

ive began grooming his sucessor who is backup to him in the 1st team this season

I think goalkeepers can perform even up till 40. Look at Buffon IRL. So it doesnt matter how old he is, if he performs well, then keep him.
