I'm currently finishing my first season with Blackpool, and I have Alex Smithies in goal, who is only 21. There have been times when he has performed excellently for me, and times when he has made countless numbers of errors, costing the team points. I'm wondering for my second season whether to invest in a better keeper (such as Ochoa), and keep Smithies as a back-up, or whether to buy a back-up keeper and keep Smithies in goal, so he could develop more and reach his potential. Any thoughts?

I would get a more established keeper and rotate Smithies. I would use the veteran keeper during high pressure / important games and try to use Smithies during cup runs or games where we are highly favourites.

Thanks in the end I bought Ochoa for £3.5 mill :)
