I've been using Bale and VDV all the time (5 seasons) and they have only scored about 5 freekicks in all that time. I don't think VDV has scored any. Do you have to give them certain direction for where to place them (far post, centre, near post etc.)?

I'm quite lucky with free kicks, seem to score quite a few indirect and the odd direct with Swindon. I've got Alan Sheehan and Matt Ritchie taking mine. Both sides are set to "Best header" and usually a defender will get on their head on it. I find I have quite a few goal moth scrambles from them as well, but that's to be expected playing League 1 and Championship. Sheehan also seems to score one cracking direct free kick a season, straight into the top corner. However, I'm not suggesting that you sign either Sheehan or Ritchie for Man City! As has been mentioned, decisions, technique and free kicks are important, along with long shots and passing.

... and you literally just make him your primary freekick taker? You don't have to change any of the freekick settings? I've got him as my primary freekick taker on both sides, I've got him doing freekick training and I'm still not seeing any of these curling freekicks you're on about. Same with VDV.

Either, but left it's round the bottom left of the wall with no chance of a save
