good goalkeeper for QPR with a rather substantial budget?

Since when was Marc-Andre ter Stegen terrible?

Obviously, I missed the various meetings and the final decision. He has been an effective GK for me every time I have signed him.

Try looking at the back 4 and the midfield? And play him as a GK (ignore the Sweeper Keeper thing).

Other than that, you can sign a youth prospect in Juventus' Romanian keeper (Laurentiu Branescu)

Beyond them, there is Adler (albeit injured for about 6 months), Ron Robert-Zieler (or Rob Ron, cant remember)

He has always been terrible. His shot stopping is good maybe on Championship level, and his positioning is so bad he couldnt be at right place at right time even if ball was the size of stuffed elephant filled with helium. From a 20 milion GK? I'll pass.

The other two you mentioned are definitely worth recommending though.

I bought him for 7,5M

??? - -" What Ter Stegen terrible??? :(

He is fantastic in my save. 13 goals concede in premier league - -"

David Ospina, Bernd Leno, Tim Wiese, Steve Mandanda, Carlos Kameni, Volkan Demirel, Maxym Koval, Igor Akinfeev, Gomes

It really depends on your defence with ter Stegen, if youve got a awful defence and a top-class keeper he cant be expected to save everything... your keeper should be the last line of defence and in the ideal world shouldnt have to make a save all game. Also it depends on whether you want a shot-stopper or a commanding style keeper, ter Stegen is a commanding keeper and Branescu is a shot-stopper (from what ive seen of him)

No defense is going to help if your GK cant stop shots. Its a simple as that. This is like getting excited about a striker that cant finish, cant long shot and cant pick up a pass, but has 20 passing. Its simply bad striker, no ifs no buts.

Defence helps alot if the GK is communicative, like ter Stegen.

You can train him to become a better shot stopper.

Also, Zieler is much like ter Stegen, but worse communication, and he's meant to be a better 'keeper?

Anyway, Raikan pretty much summed up your options. Mandara and Ospina are excellent shot stoppers.

Nope. He is -9, starts with about what, 150ish CA? On average he'd have aobut 165 PA , there's no room there to improve shot stopping significantly.

Look, the numbers are numbers, ter Stegen is awful shot-stopper, well below solid PL level. No communication is going to stop every shot unless you expect him to communicate the ball to turn the other way.

If , according to some of theories here, he can only unreliable be because of bad defenders or tactics, isn't great
communication exactly the thing to make up for that? Oh right, so it was just good ol bad goalkeeping after all.

Yeah, i believe so. He also sucks for pure shot stopping, but has 2 things going for himself - better concentration and better positioning. Plus, he is a sweeper-keeper, which is a whole different box of cookies.

ok, but if you think ter Stegen is not good, I think you should buy Courtois... he was unhappy and they offered him in the starting of the 3rd season

And yet, Ter Stegen is a Sweeper Keeper too?

Although said earlier, I'd also recommend Steve Mandanda who's buy-out clause is something like £11.25m. Not only is he a great keeper but his distribution has been awesome for me, setting up many counter-attacks.
