Good young defensive midfielder

I'm looking for a good solid defensive midfield to sit infront of my defense and mop up old school style. I'm happy with using Carrick for a year or two until he gets old. I'm looking for a young kid, 17-23 to bleed in over a season or two without going big bucks on transfer fee and wages.
