Brown, Brown's It Over Smithies First Team Chances

Gordon Brown today seemed edgy when questioned on Alex Smithies first team chances at Goodison Park.

Sky Sports today revealed that Brown doesn't plan to play Smithies in his first XI at any point this season. The news is likely to upset Smithies, who fancied his chances of replacing Tim Howard by the end of the season.
When asked about Smithies future Brown said, "I don't plan to play him this season. I feel the pressure is too much, we already have experienced goalkeepers Tim Howard and Jan Mucha who will perform between the sticks. Tim is currently tutoring Alex and hopefully after Christmas we'll see significant improvements as a result of this."

The future looks bright for Smithies, and the former Huddersfield shot stopper will be going all out to impress at Everton's finch farm training complex in order to force his way into first team consideration.

September Results

Man City 2-0 Everton

Everton sunk without a trace at The City of Manchester Stadium. Robinho rifled in a rocket from a narrow angle to give the home side the lead just after half time. Summer signing Mario Balotelli doubled the lead from the edge of the box with a good well placed finish. If that wasn't enough for Everton, Louis Saha was injured within 17 minutes. Although having similar amounts of possession Man City dominated and Everton were lucky to get nil. Gordon Brown avoided a press conference straight after the game, his first loss since taking over as Everton boss. MOM went to Robinho who looks like he may show his worth this season.

Brown To Change Tactics

Gordon Brown has today revealed he is considering a change in tactics after Everton's none existent showing at the City of Manchester Stadium.

Brown favoured a 4-2-3-1 formation but feels that it left a lot of gaps, which Man City duly exposed and left Brown red faced, "I feel we need to change it if we are to achieve our aim of finishing in the top 3 this season. We need to be beating the likes of Manchester City, no excuses. I am looking for a big response from the players against Birmingham and i'm going to make changes."

It is thought Brown will go for a traditional 4-4-2 for the next few games.

Good results so far mate, except for the man city one
so far so good, keep it up

Everton 6-1 Birmingham

Everton bounced back in style with an emphatic victory over Birmingham City which answered some of the opposition to Gordon Brown. His decision to play 4-4-2 and start summer signings Magaye Gueye & Jermaine Beckford paid off. Gueye showed good composure on his Goodison debut by finishing into the bottom corner on his weaker foot. However it was another debutant who stole the show. Beckford scored a hat-trick on his Goodison bow and looks like he could be a shrewd signing. Former Everton striker Marcus Bent scored the only goal for the visitors, but Arteta and Yakubu added to the goals to complete an impressive victory. Hernanes showed promise with two assists. MOM obviously goes to Jermaine Beckford.

Magaye Gueye, Hernanes & Beckford named in the team of the week. Hernanes has 6 assists in 5 games.

Tottenham 1-1 Everton

Everton got a good result against Spurs but left North London wondering if they could have had the full 3 points. Jermaine Beckford grabbed his fifth goal of the season in the 83rd minute. After collecting a pass from Ashley Young, he took it past Ledley King, showing him a clean set of knees before executing a powerful finish. However, in the 92nd minute Peter Crouch equalized from a corner. MOM goes to Jermaine Beckford again.

Hull 1-3 Everton

Gordon Brown led Everton to the fourth round of the League Cup with victory over Hull. Striker John Fleck on loan from Rangers netted the first, followed by Bootle born Jose Baxter slotting home. A misjudgement from Seamus Coleman allowed Peter Halmosi to header in at the back post. Sylvain Distin completed the win with a point blank header from a well worked Magaye Gueye corner. MOM goes to Sylvain Distin, leading the youth out well.

Everton 3-0 Wolves

Everton secured a good win against a lowly Wolves side in a low key encounter at Goodison Park. Slowly but surely Gordon Brown is becoming more popular amongst the fans, with his tactical awareness and motivational skills especially notable. Beckford picked up Fellaini’s superb ball, and showed good composure, putting the ball in the bottom corner. He then won a penalty which Arteta hit the post off of. Beckford then set up Arteta who finished well. Beckford then added yet another goal, picking up another pass from Marouane Fellaini, before turning his marker and angling a thunderous drive into the top right corner. Hopefully an England call up isn’t far away... MOM goes to Marouane Fellaini after two superb assists which highlighted his attacking threat.

Good detailed update :)
Unlucky about the Spurs result though. All your signings seem to be coming off, Hernanes looks quality and Beckford looks like he can take the pressure of the Premier League. 8-|

Thanks, the players have gelled well. Beckford is scoring for fun, Hernanes is setting them up for fun :D.

Yeah I was gutted i assigned Fellaini to mark the tall player, but Yobo ended up marking him instead. Still unbeaten though, would have took a draw away at Spurs before the game though. Thanks for posting.

October Results

Wigan 0-1 Everton
Can only be described as a drab match. Brown would have fell asleep if he wasn't annotating pictures of David Cameron in his Independent. However, Ashley Young showed why Brown paid out £13.25 million with a 30 yard curling effort after a pass from Hernanes. Marouane Fellaini got sent off for persistent fouling but Everton hung onto the lead. MOM goes to Ashley Young for keeping people awake.

Bolton 0-1 Everton
Another poor game in the north west in which Everton were involved in. Brown looks like he is starting to churn out results without the attacking possession play he promised. Joseph Yobo secured the win with a bullet header from a well worked Mikel Arteta corner. Yakubu had a chance to double Everton's lead from the spot but missed, leaving Everton having to hold on to a fragile lead. MOM goes to Yobo, who also defended well aside from his goal.

Everton 3-1 Sunderland
Everton must have worked hard on the training ground this week to produce this performance as Sunderland were swept aside. Hernanes played a fantastic ball for Beckford which he duly slotted home into the keeper's far corner. Ashley Young then beat a man to the byline before playing a good ball across the box which Hernanes blasted home. Martyn Waghorn provided a scare for the hosts, but James Vaughan scored a fine solo goal in an Everton counter attack in extra time to provide a 3-1 victory. MOM goes to Hernanes after a goal and an assist.

West Ham 0-1(aet) Everton
Everton left it late to seal their place in the league cup fifth round against a strong West Ham side. Everton hit the woodwork twice and the match looked like it was going all the way to penalties before Mikel Arteta struck. Yakubu took it down the left hand side before cutting in and powering a shot at Robert Green which he could only parry away to the feet of Arteta. The Everton playmaker slotted home and left the fans dreaming of a league cup final success. MOM goes to Phil Jagielka after a spirited performance in the heart of Everton's defence.

Man Utd 0-6(six) Everton
Gordon Brown has been hailed a tactical genius after demolishing Manchester United. Everton were underdogs for the match but pulled of the result of the season so far by scoring six times at Old Trafford. Liverpool's nightclubs braced themselves for one of their biggest nights of the year after this victory. Hernanes opened the scoring just 2 minutes in after great work from Beckford down the left hand side. Hernanes was then the creator as he played in Ashley Young behind Man Utd's defence and the ex Watford winger placed the ball in the back of the net. Beckford then got a sensational goal of his own, terrorising the Man Utd defence once again before scoring a curling 30 yard effort which sent the toffees into dreamland. Everton feared a backlash after half time but all chances of this were dismissed when Jermaine Beckford converted a penalty at the Stretford End. Ashley Young added a further two goals to seal his hat-trick and one of Everton's greatest ever results. If Gordy hasn't won the fans over now, who will?! MOM goes to Ashley Young after a superb hat-trick and assist from left midfield.

This rounded up a fantastic month for Everton. And a fantastic month for Gordy.

I'll have a look at milan badelj, he might be on my shopping list for January ;). Yeah Hernanes hasn't really got outstanding stats but he just plays unreal! And Beckford scores from distance, tap ins, headers, takes it past players. Hope he's as good as this for us this season :P. Thanks for posting I appreciate it.
