Grasshoppers: An Alpine Journey

When looking for a new club to start a save with, I identified Grasshoppers as a team I was really interested in. A fallen giant of Swiss football, I wanted to take them back to the glory days mainly by using youth development. However, the standard Swiss football pyramid seems exceptionally dull (10 teams per league). I wanted to try something different.

To solve this, I created a custom database which combines the Austrian and Swiss footballing pyramids - the 'Alpine Pyramid'. Teams like Basel, Red Bull Salzburg, Rapid Wien and Young Boys all compete in the same division. This makes for a much more competitive league. Even mid-table side such as Sion, Austria Wien and St. Gallen are more than capable at making a run for the league.

There are five domestic leagues, a domestic cup and domestic super cup. Check out the leagues below:

The Database

Since posting my first season with Grasshoppers, a number of people have asked for the database I am using in the save. For those that are interested, I have released the database on my blog.

The Super Liga is a really fun and close division, teams like Basel, RB Salzburg and Rapid Wien are all capable of winning the league. A number of other teams are also capable of pushing for the title. Taking a team from the Nationalliga all the way up to the Super Liga will be a tough challenge. If you are looking for a new save and nothing takes your fancy, why not try the Alpine database?!

Download link can be found on my blog: https://timmssports.wordpress.com/2017/03/09/the-alpine-pyramid-the-database/

Thank you for your continued support.

Grasshoppers: Chaos In Zurich

The latest update in my Grasshoppers save, playing in the Alpine Super Liga.

We finished 4th last season which meant we qualified for the Europa League qualification rounds, could we reach the group stages? I also go though the Summer transfers, update on our rivals and lay out our objectives for the season.

The Harun Alspoy Saga: A Man-Management Case Study

Harun Alpsoy is one of my best young prospects at Grasshoppers. In this piece, I discuss my approach when his agent comes to me requesting a new contract for Alpsoy, as well as evaluate my decision. I also look at how Alpsoy has developed in my first few seasons at the club.

I tried something a little different here, any feedback is very much appreciated!
