So, I've been tossing around a new save idea for a little while and I'm finally sufficiently ready to start up a new one.
The aim: Take a single Icelandic Club from Iceland from the bottom division(of my database), 4.deild karla, to the top of Icelandic football and produce some great youngsters to lift the national team. Perhaps down the road, we'll manage the national team.

Wolf "The Dentist" Stansson has decided to make his way from the ice to the pitch. He has no coaching badges or playing experience and will be in his mid-30's.
Here he is in his FM glory, with the facial modeling.(Sorry, my graphics are set to low) - I also know, the actor is Danish but Wolf will be Icelandic.

Rules - I will prefer to use homegrown players but will also sign U23 players, not just Icelandic but that will be my emphasis. This is a pretty open save with little limitation.
Database - all internationals are loaded and players from teams in Continental competitions.

We brought in a lot of new faces so, I'm just going to re-paste the squad here.

Jon Gestur Ben is a fine-finishing striker! 13 Finishing and 13 dribbling with decent pace/acceleration and fitness? At this level? Yes, please!

Youth Intake
....and a strange one it is! I count Kosovan, Peruvian, Polish, Japanese, Icelandic, and Australian.

Shaqiri looks a fine prospect and a decent fit for my system.

Cuadros is the furthest along right now and actually looks like he can become a good center back for us.

Matyja looks a good prospect with his physical prowess and a good work rate.

Bykowski looks like a solid option with a decent little bit of flair for our level, too!

We moved to a more attacking posture for our final two matches and it seemed to work out.

We used a very small rotation this season for just 14 matches.

Jon Gestur Ben was our high scorer, netting 4 times in 7 matches.

Pre-Season

Not a great pre-season but we're fit and ready to roll into the new season!

I forgot all about the beauty of lower league, amateur management. We were re-offering contracts on a nearly daily basis.

We've had a lot of incomings and outgoings, so here's the squad. We've moved to a two striker lineup!

A good start to league play, really ramping up our form into June. Just like, that, we're halfway through the season!

New Signings!

Jakob Eggertsson will immediately step into goal for us and improve the side from the start!

Aron Ingi Jonsson, a right back, joins us and will provide depth, if not start there. Right back became a huge need after our right back, Jamal Jonsson, was poached by Kria.

Unnar Magnusson is a central defender that will provide some great ability in the center of our defense and add additional depth for the run-in!

Isak Breki Jonsson is our final piece at right back and will be the best option. A physical specimen at this level, he will be a huge part of our promotion bid!

Bakir Anwar Nassar, an Iraqi striker, is a huge piece of business for us. Not only will he slot in nicely next to Ben up top, we stole him away from our biggest rivals for promotion, Hviti riddarinn!

Parsa Zaminian, an Iranian central midfielder, comes to us from division rivals, KB. Another huge coup for us to push for promotion and a signing from within our division.

Transfers Out

Here are the outgoing players during the summer window.

Hlynur Haflidason, our first-choice right inside forward, moves on after just 7 matches with us.

A few other minor players have moved on but all key players have been replaced, which leaves our squad looking like this!

Jon Gestur Ben has led the line nicely as we picked up 10 of a possible 12 points. Just three more matches.

We sit top of the table for now, just one point clear of IH. Good news: we can essentially clinch a playoff spot with 3 points.

A bit of bad news, we've likely lost Parsa Zaminian for the remainder of the season. He is honestly too skilled for this level with a magisterial first touch, great passing, and great decisions, he'll be missed.

The above-mentioned Zaminian has had a 7.26 rating over his three matches for us with 1 goal and 1 assist.

Jon Gestur Ben - Striker - Ben has been a menace for opposing defenses, netting 5 times in the last 5 matches, with a 7.74 average rating over the same period.

We've gone and done it!!!!!!!! We honestly played them off the pitch but made it hard for ourselves by missing chances, missing a penalty, and conceding very late. All is well that ends well!​

Here's how we finished out the season!

Our rotation was paper-thin as we only had to cope with 16 total league matches(14 in league play, 2 in the promotion playoffs)

Jakob Eggertsson came in and was a marked improvement between the sticks. He is likely good enough to play in the 3. deild, as well.

Honestly, the season turned around when we brought in our mid-season signings. Isak Breki Jonsson was a huge part of that! in his 6 matches for us, he provided 7 assists!

During the run-in, Daniel Dagur Bjarmason delivered the goods for us! On the year, he provided 4 goals, 4 assists, and a 7.47 average rating!

Finally, the key to our attack was the man up top, Jon Gestur Ben. He provided 10 goals and 2 assists over 14 starts and a 7.37 average rating.

The board called a meeting to suggest more funds for the coaching staff, I responded and said that we should try for other improvements. I suggested turning pro.....no chance, right?
