greyed out reserve players

just started a save as rotherham united but most of the reserve team is greyed out. can anyone explain why and how to ungrey them?

means that you don't have any reserve players, so there just default players that have been given to you

oh okay then is there anyway i can sign them?

yeah you can sign them by clicking on them and then there should be an offer contract button, although they are ususally too poor to be considered first team players or first team potential players.
