I have seen a lot of people say, myself included, about the number of ccc's they have seemingly being much greater than compared to the opposition but still either lose or do not score that many goals in relation.
I'm Utd and have won the league every year and the champs league the last 2 years. I play a very rotation based system because I have a very strong squad so I do not believe this will impact on the stats as each team i put out is very good. So I thought I would post screenshots of every match I have played through the first half of the season and have a look over the stats to see if we are over reacting because a particular game has frustrated us or if the proportion of goals to ccc's does have a noticeable differential between us and the ai team. Lets have a look!

First here is my squad so you can see its rotated:

Here are the player stats for the season so far and their important attributes for scoring (i chose stats for a poacher as it shows fin, otb, ant, comp);

44 goals have been scored by my strikers and attacking mids,
the other 15 players in the squad have scored 15 goals between them.

Here are the overall squad stats;

This shows my team has an overall shot on target % as 46% but only a conversion rate of 12.5%. So roughly i am only scoring just 27% of my shots that are on target, 73% are either cleared off the line or saved.

Now, here are the stats from every game:

I have had 74 ccc's and scored 59 goals.

The teams playing against me have had a total of 23 ccc's and have scored 12 goals.

Just for hypothetical reasons, if we assume that every goal was scored from a ccc then I have a conversion rate of 80% from ccc's whilst the computer only has a conversion rate of 52% from ccc's.
Obviously this is flawed as not every chance will be scored from a ccc and is skewed because games where there are no ccc's may yield a high number of goals so now i calculate where the games with ccc's and goals are different.

I will give it a weighted score so a game where the number of ccc's is greater than goals scored a value of minus 1 will be given and in games where the number off ccc's is less than the number of goals scored a value of plus 1 will be given.The weighted score for my team is a minus 13, with 10 games where less goals were scored than ccc's created and 4 games where more goals were scored than ccc's created.The weighted score for the opposition is minus 11, with 10 games where less goals were scored than ccc's created and 2 games where more goals were scored than ccc's created

This to me shows that over the first half of the season it seems to be pretty even in terms of ccc's and goals scored/chances converted. Obviously we can not see the ccc's that are missed and this is over a small period of games but it seems we can all get a game where we create lots of ccc's, don't score and lose but it kind of evens itself out as the season goes along so lets not all moan.

Potentially the overall chance conversion rate is more the issue and i shall look at that now.

I will edit this and update with the chance conversion and overall findings for ccc's when i get to the end of the season.

Hope this is handy!!!

Here is a little update, i went into every teams stats for so far this season and worked out the below stats. Clearly Bolton are utter pony (what do you expect when you still have David N'gog still up front ey).But also you can see that my team has an above average SOT % and Conversion rate % and the exact same % of SOT converted average, so we're not that hard done by.

If anyone wants me to add any other stats to the whole thread or the table below just holla back!!!

Great post mate!!!
I love it when people take the time to research and compare the overall figures and statistics.

I could never really understand why people were saying that the Chance conversion rate
of shots was way too low. This season, everybody has been raving about Suarez and if 30%
is considered very high in the real life Elite European Leagues, I think we're quite spoiled in FM with your
findings of 80% (overall) conversion rate, or the AI's 52% conversion rate. :P

I think people need to stop moaning and end the Match Engine witch hunt.
A dodgy ME is a great excuse ignore any tactical weaknesses.

I'm not saying that people are bad at tactics, far from it. Many great tacticians are struggling with this ME, I'm just saying it's easier to blame the ME (most probably don't don't realize they are doing it, which is natural and understandable) than rip your tactic apart looking for the loose screw sinking the entire ship.
