Hamburg sack Slomka

Mirko Slomka has today been excused from his duties after Hamburg's woeful Season. Slomka did manage to steer The Red Shorts away from a catastrophic era in the history of the club by keeping them in the Bundesliga albeit a narrow victory over two legs against Bundesliga Two cracks Greuther Furth.

Many feel Slomka should have had more time to turn things around after only being appointed with Three Months left of the Season. The rumors are that the dreadful away form seen under his reign was the major factor in the decision to let him go.

Earlier today Hamburg released a statement say, "We'd like to thank Mirko Slomka in his short time at the club and managing to stave off relegation which we are extremely grateful. His effort and hard work will be remembered and we wish him all the best in the future."

The Hamburg board have a reputation of not giving managers time which has clearly been proven with Sixteen Managers in Fourteen years, been and gone!

Who will be willing to work under this current board? One thing is for sure, they will be under extreme pressure from day one!

Interviews for Hamburger SV Post Begin!

The Hamburg board have confirmed that they have held interviews today and are confident a new man will be announced shortly.

Hamburg released a short statement saying, "We are looking to recruit a man with a wealth of experience. A man whom knows the German game inside out and has a reputation to help our club grow and become successful once more".

Speculation is rife that Hamburg legend Kevin Keegan is in the frame along with Jurgen Klinsmann and Lothar Matthaus. A source close to Kevin Keegan has said that he would be very interested in the job but there has been no offer so far. However, as for the rumors of either Klinsmann or Matthaus taking over may well be wide of the mark according to insiders.

Nation in shock as Beckenbauer appointed HSV manager

German football fans across the country will no doubt wake up this morning and take a second look at the papers to see that Bayern Munich and German Legend Franz Beckenbauer has been appointed manager of Hamburger Sv on a Two year deal.

Beckenbauer has not managed a club since Munich which was nearly two decades ago back in 1996! The new gaffer had a two year spell as a player with Hamburg in 1980 - 1982 when they won the German Title.

One fan said having a man of such expereince as Beckenbauer good only be good for the club while some other fans feel he isn't the man to lead Hamburg back to the top, feeling a younger manager would have been a better choice.

Hamburg's main man Dietmar Beiersdorfer said earlier that everyone will get the chance to meet Beckenbauer at tomorrows press conference and until then no questions will be answered.
