Club Background

Hangleton United were founded in 1924 by Jimmy Reeve. He took the club from local obscurity, to big time fame. As a player Jimmy set many records, setting the all time appearance record for the club and all time top goalscorer. He then went on to manage the club, and took them to even greater heights. By the time Reeve had retired from the club, aged 81, he had managed to take them all the way to the Premier League.

Jimmy Reeve unfortunately passed away 3 years later on 26th April 2009, ages 94. The club erected a statue the the legendary player outside their stadium.

Their history is slightly marred by the Lamb Park disaster in 1973. Part of the west stand collapsed during Hanglton's game against Brighton on the 29th November. 36 people were killed in the disaster, and Hangleton hold a ceremony each year in honour of the 36 people who lost their lives.

Club Facilities

Hangleton United currently play their home games at Royal Park, a 59,000 all-seater stadium. Plans for the stadium were put in place by Jimmy Reeve in 2004, but was unable to see its completion in 2010. The club also possess excellent training & youth facilities.

The club maintain a rivalry with Brighton & Hove Albion. Normally it is a well respected rivalry between fans, but on occasions it has turn ugly.

The Manager
Football-Manager1.jpg

Hangleton are currently managerless, after Tom View was sacked after 2 very poor seasons as manager. There is plenty of speculation over who will become the next manager, but favorite for the job is ex-Hangleton striker Jason Hallen. Hallen spent his whole career at Hangleton, and retired last year. He has taken a years break from football, but it is thought he is wanting to get back into the sport. Where better than the club he is worshiped at.

The Team

Hangletons team is currently on the small side, after many of them was released after the poor season. They now have just 20 players left, and the new manager will have to bring in some more players to bolster the squad. They do have some real quality in the squad though.

Goalkeepers

Alfie Parker: Parker has been at Hangleton for 2 years, and was brought in as a back-up to young Spanish goalkeeper Xabi Alvardo. He has only made a few appearances for the club, but is always prepared to fight for his place. He has also got 9 caps for his country.

Xabi Alvardo: 23 year old Spanish goalkeeper Xabi Alvardo is Hangletons number 1 goalkeeper. Alvardo has been at the club for 4 years, and has established himself as a real favorite with the fans. Alvardo has been at the club for 4 years.

Ian Hendry: Young Hendry came through Hangletons wonderful academy, and has real potential for the future.

Defenders

Alexandre Filipe: Filipe is Hangletons set piece specialist. The explosive Brazilian left-back is very similar to the legendary Roberto Carlos, and is another player who is well respected in the eyes of Hangleton supporters. He joined from Brazilian team Sao Paulo in 2010.

Augustus Cole: Augustus Cole (Yes, I like GoW lol) is an English right back and winger. The tall powerful player uses his pace and strength, and is a real handful for other players.

Dizzy Wallin:
Wallin is Hangletons hard hitting powerful centre back. He is know for hard tackling and his aggression, which sometimes leads him into trouble. The American has been at the club for 5 years, since joining from LA Galaxy.

Harry Ross: Ross is another player to have come through the Hangleton academy. The young player can play anywhere across the back, and has a promising career ahead of him.

James Cotton: James Cotton has been at Hangleton for his whole career, having come through the academy. The strong centre back is always reliable, and willing to put himself on the line for the club. His pace can sometimes let him down though.

Joao Aurelio: Aurelio has only just signed for Hangleton having spent most of his career at Benfica. The commanding centre back is know for his excellent defensive ability, but also his explosive long range shots, and often grabs himself a few goals a season.

Russel Anderson: Anderson has been at several clubs during his career, but has never been able to settle. He is now happy at Hangleton though, and feels he really is at home at the club. The left back enjoys the competition for the left back position with Filipe.

Throgan Hangbar: Hangbar is a Swedish wonderkid who joined Hangleton from Swedish team Malmo. The right back has a bright future ahead of him.

Midfielders

Bahaan Hussen:
Hussen is Hangletons resident Pakistani. The 21 year old left his home country in 2002, and found residence in England. He join the Hangleton academy when he as 15, and made excellent progress through the ranks. He plays as a defensive midfielder.

Luigi De Mario: De Mario is an Italian left winger, who has just joined Hangleton from Italian giants Juventus. He is excited about his future at the club, and really wants to help them push on in the league after the past few seasons.

Pierre Harve: Pierre Harve is a French centre midfielder who has been at the club for 3 years now. He is know for his excellent passing ability, and his penalty taking accuracy. He has only missed 1 in his last 23 penalties.

Stephen Russo:
Russo is Hangletons captain, and one of the best players at the club. Another one to have come through the academy, he is worshiped by the clubs fans. He is know for his superb vision, passing and creativity. He has stated he wants to spend his whole career at the club.

Vitor: Fabio de Angerlos Vitor Jose, commonly know at Vitor, is a Brazilian wonderkid who joined the club when he was just 14. He is know for his exceptional dribbling and flair, and has been likened to the great Ronaldinho. The fans love watching Vitor play, and he always excites them.

Strikers

Gabriel Vasquez: Vasquez is arguably the best player currently playing for the club. He has only just joined Hangleton from Inter Milan for ?35 Million. The club had to pay big for him, after he scored 40 goals for Inter last season. The flamboyant striker is really looking forward to breaking that record at his new club.

Carl Ledger: Ledger was Hangletons top goal scorer last season, with 21 goals. Ledger joined the club in 2008 from Birmingham City. The pacey striker has excellent finishing technique,

Luc Mazza: Mazza is probably one of the greatest products to have ever come out of San Marino. The young striker has been at the club for 2 years, and was happy to get a run of first team games last season, and returned the faith in the manager with 9 goals.

Alessio Domingues: Domingues was signed 2 seasons ago by Hangleton, and was labelled the next Del Piero. Unfortunately a broken leg has hampered his career, and he fears he may not be able to reach the great heights that were set before him.

1st July 2011

Hello. My name is Jason Hallen, but you probably already knew that. For anyone who doesnt though, here is a small background about me; I was born on the 8th November 1972 in Torquay, England. At the age of 5, me and my parents moved to Hanglton. I quickly grew a love of their football team, and went along to every game that I could. I always dreamed of playing professional football, and when the chance to play for Hanglton United came when I was 14 years old, I couldnt believe my luck.

Jimmy Reeve had taken a shine to me, and took my under his wing. He said I had potential to be on of the best players the club has ever seen. Coming from him, that was a real honor. That made me ever more determined to go on and prove him right. He helped me through every stage of my career, and handed me nearly all of my 523 appearances for the club. I feel I repaid him a certain amount with the 317 goals I scored.

I retired from football 2 years ago, age 36, to spend more time with beautiful family. My wife, Molly and my son, Michael, aged 13, really mean the world to me.

Hangleton have been in a bit of trouble since I left though, and it really disappointed me knowing there was nothing I could do to help. When their manager was sacked last week, there were loads of rumors flying around that I was tipped to be the next manager! I know we footballers are taught to ignore paper talk, but I would love the have the change to manage my beloved club! Andy Astley, the club chairman has my number, I just hope he uses it.

My brother plays for Hangleton Rangers U-14s. He might come through your youth academy in a few years!

3rd July 2011

It started out a very normal day, I was woken up by my lovely wife, then had a spot of breakfast, before sunbathing in the garden with a ice cold drink. As I lay there, I could hear the chirp of birds and the rush of the light breeze. I enjoy my relaxing life now, but I still do miss the roar of that crowd.

As I lay there, wondering what to do with my day, Michael ran outside with my phone; "Dad, Andy is on the phone for you." He passed the phone over and I picked it up.

"Hello" I said.

"Hello Jason! Its been a long time since ive spoken to you."
He said excitedly. "How are you my friend? How are the family?"

"Im great thanks Andy, Molly and Michael are doing well too. How about you buddy?"

"I am good too thanks. As you probably guessed though, this is not just a call to see how you are. As you probably know, I had to sack Tom due to his poor performance over the past few seasons. We are now looking for a new manager, and you have probably seen lots of papers linking you to the job."

"Well yes I have, but I dont really listen to paper talk."

"Well im afraid to say that all the talk is correct! We would love you to become our manager. We need to win back the fans confidence, and they love you, and we believe you would be perfect for that job. Could you come down and meet us tomorrow?"

"Wow, im speechless. Certainly Andy. What time do you want me?"

"9am if thats not too early for you. Haha"

"No, thats no problem. I will see you tomorrow"

I couldnt believe my luck. There I was wondering what I was going to do with my life, and it drops right into my lap. Its time to go and buy myself a new suit...of 5.

Great Story but just one point if Jimmy Reeve founded the club in 1924 then it was 85 years later that he died but he was only 74!! Not sure about that one :)
