I had a great intake of youth players, one guy was 3 or 3.5 stars PA and 1 star CA with very good ratings, as well as a very good American (I'm in the Portugese league, so it was a pleasant surprise to see him) and another good player. Then my computer crashed. I was ****** off and the last save was right before the intake of youth players, so I decided to try and reload it a few times until I found a good draft class. I found one and saved it as a different file, and decided to only do it a total of 5 times (anything more seemed like cheating). On the fifth time, I got the best intake I've ever seen in FM. There are three really good players, and one of them is the best youth player I've ever seen. I've attached the pics. Has anyone else had an intake of youth players this good?

Last one wasn't that fantastic, but the others were really good! I've never had a footballer come through the youth system at all!

Not as good as your Camara he looks awesome and only 16.
I had one good youth player with my Wigan squad, who was worth around £2.5m but he wasn't as great as I thought he would be and ended up selling him within a few seasons.

Guys what should I do with Camara...right now I'm in the middle of November. He's played about 12 games with the youth team and has an average rating of 7.3 or 7.4, though he's been very, very inconsistent. He's also spent time with the Portugese U21 team and has done very well. His attributes have already improved. I signed him to a pre-contract as soon as I got him but I'm sure I forgot to set the year it expires (I always do that), but I'm considering cheating and extending it...if I was thinking clearly I certainly would have signed him on to a contract that was as long as possible.

I was thinking about moving him to my regular squad and making him available for reserves around midway through the season. The next season I'd loan him out somewhere, either Liga Vitalis or Liga Sagres. The season after I'd put him on my team.

Is this too slow though? Since he's good enough, should I put him on my first team as soon as possible? The problem is that he doesn't fit into my team at all. I have a X-mas tree formation with 3 CM's and two AMC's and I've gotten rid of all my wide players. Altidore is the lone target man and his goal/game ratio is usually about 1. So I'd have to sell Altidore to make room for Camara, and even then, Camara isn't a target man, so I don't see how he'd fit into this formation. I can't switch to a 4-4-2 because I don't have any wide players...although I guess I could do a diamond midfield with a DM, two CM's, and an AM...seems like I'd get killed by the lack of width though. Any advice?

loans should take place when the player is within the 18-22/23 age gap. my youngsters who are 22 are pretty capable of taking first team duties.

If your targetmen/front men do not have good headint(good heading, not just decent, decent heading doesnt do anything at all.) then i suggest you play more narrow formations or you play with wide supporting playmakers.

Lol Camara can probably bang in 15 goals in the Portuguez League already and he can become world-class in probably a year

You really should nurture his talent in the youth team before sending him out for loan though, or you'll risk burning up all of his potencial...

That's what I was thinking, but there's not really room for him in my squad right now...I don't think he'd fit the lone target striker role in an X-mas tree formation.

This guy should be ready for the first team before he's 22. In fact, he's ready now at 16, especially since a lot of his attributes went up a point. But you're saying I should wait a while to loan him? I agree with that, I feel like my players don't improve when they go on loan. So should I keep him on the youth squad for a full season, then move him to the regular squad (not playing him on the first team, making him available for reserve games) the next season...and maybe send him on loan during the January transfer window? Then bring him into the first team the next season? What do you guys think? I don't even want to play this game until I know exactly what I want to do. I don't want to mess this guy up. I attached some more pictures, with his updated attributes, form (you can see his few very bad games), and training.

Well, yeah, it seems that if you make a U19 play a determined number of games (1st team, of course), he will reach his potential too soon, and will thus decline faster...
So yes, it would be on your best interest to keep him playing in your u19s until he is 17/18, and then send him to loan, if you'd like, to get some first team football... Although, even if I don't know what strikers you currently have, by the age of 19 he will be ready for first team football in your Sporting. And if you're thinking of selling him later, don't settle for less than 40M =)
Hope that helps, and no, I've never even went close to having such quality come directly from my academy... I do buy a lot of them, nothing better than nurturing a youngster into a top class player, hehe=)

Yeah nurturing talent is my favorite part of the game. As for my strikers, I have a X-mas tree formation (3 CM's, two AMC's, and one striker) and Altidore is the lone striker. I bought him after the first season and he's gotten really good. So far this season he has 11 appearances, 15 goals, and a 7.88 rating. My backup is Franco Di Santo (another target striker), who I just got over the summer on a free transfer from Chelsea. He hasn't played much but has done very well in his few appearances.

Camara isn't really a lone striker, and that's what you need in the X-mas tree. I can't switch to a 4-4-2 (or even a 4-3-3 for that matter) because I don't have any wide players, although I have a few good outside midfielders that will be ready for the first team in a couple of years. Camara is ready for my first team now but there's no room for him, and there won't be unless I overhaul my squad and get some wide players. And I'm hesitant to do that because I've built this team for a while now and all of my players are really young (two backups are 30, two starters are 26, the rest of the team is 25 and under, and almost all of them are 23 and under).

So I kind of want to wait a while for Camara to join my team even if he's ready now. So I was thinking keeping him in the U19 side for the rest of this season, and then next season moving him to the senior squad but not playing him, just making him available for the reserve matches. Then, during the January transfer window, I'd send him on loan somewhere, probably the Liga Vitalis. Maybe the season after that I could send him on loan to a team in the Liga Sagres, although that's a long time to be spending away from my team. What do you guys think?
