Has anyone successfully edited data files on a Mac?

I have launched FM2012 data editor, made a few changes then saved editor data as... and created the Editor Data folder in the Documents/Sports Interactive/Football Manager 2012/Editor Data - but when I launch FM 2012 it never shows the file in the Editor Data Files change box option for a new game.

Does anyone know what I am doing wrong or is it a common problem with Macs?

I'm running the game through Steam - is that an issue?
