Pehaps you could add some more information ( have a look in the posting rules sticky in this section). Very few of us have ever managed Hereford 
Also remember that it might not only be down to the tactic as most players in the lower leagus are highly inconsistant

I am currently playing with Hereford. Got two promotions in two concequtive years.
Currently (to play now) in npower championship.
Got a lot of loaned players (8) and systems like 4-1 DM -1CM -2 (AML, AMR)-2 ST
Also 4-1-2-1 (AML only) -2
Also, 4,2(DM),2(AML, AMR),1ST
and some asimetrics based on the above.
I used 5-1-1-2 (AML, AMR)-1 with very high match preparation in attacking movement for last games -that gave me the promotion- and I was using defencive positioning within the year, same system. Defence was very good.
