Help with defence!

These are my 2 tactic they both create a s*** load of CCC but both concede loads too, I need your help to tell me the best defensive set up I can use using the lower 6 outfield players in each tactic also by changing the team instructions the front 4 players on each tactic can't be changed around

for the 4-2-2-2 you can try;

drop deeper and play narrower. Pay defensive mentality and Very fluid
Let your fullbacks sit wider and ease off tackles. CBs mark tighter and stopper cover combination with the hold position selected
DMs close down more. both on support. no tight marking

These changes might improve defence but might affect the attacking fluidity of the team. When I was initially testing my magic rectangle tactic I played with these instructions and was better defensively but suffered in attack. There are other changes but can't quite remember.

Might not work for you but it did for me

In the 4-2-3-1, you don't have anyone sitting infront of the defense. The BWM will press too high up the pitch, leaving your back 4 exposed.
