Help with playmaker

Ok i normally play with a playmaker in the central midfield position(xavi) but he normally gets man marked out of the game and i cant swap positions with some other player because that particular role in midfield was made for him. how do i counter this man marking strategy and make him more effective? Any advice will be appreciated.

you could give him a free role to make him drift away from his marker, and if his marker follows him then there will be a lot of space for your other players. if you play as barca you can make him swap position with iniesta.
