Help with Sunderland

I am managing Sunderland but have started poorly in the season. So please help.

I am playing a 4-2-3-1 formation as follows:

Gyan
Sulejmani - Richardson - Henderson
Palacios - Cattermole
Olsson - Bramble - Onuoha - Angeleri
Gordon

Gyan- Complete forward - Attack
Sulejmani - Winger - Attack
Richardson - Attacking mid - Attack
Henderson - Winger - Attack
Palacios - Ball winning midfielder - Defend
Cattermole - Central midfielder - Support
Olsson - Fullback - Auto
Bramble - Central defender - Defend
Onuoha - Central defender - Defend
Angeleri - Fullback - Auto
Gordon - Goalkeeper - Defend

Philosophy - Fluid
Starting Strategy - Attacking

Passing style - Shorter
Creative freedom - More expressive
Closing down - Default
Tackling - More aggressive
Marking - Man marking
Crossing - Default
Roaming - Default

Defensive line - Normal (Slider @ Halfway)
Width - Wide (Slider @ 4 notches above halfway)
Tempo - Normal (Slider @ 3 notches below halfway)
Counter attack - Yes


Maybe I am playing a stupid formation or I have something stupidly wrong in my tactics??

I actually thought your tactic was pretty good, perhaps change your strategy to control, its probably best until you become a stornger club, also where is Darren Bent?, hes better then Gyan

Cheers, yeah that I suppose that would be better.

Ah...he's at Aston Villa in real life now? So he is at Aston Villa on my game too after the January Transfers update.

I'm not an expert but I think that Richardson plays better on the wing. Asamoah Gyan is an OK complete forward but he is far better at (in fact statistically best) as a poacher. I think that the tempo should be three notches above halfway not below because I think they are a fast moving side. Creativity should be default - there isn't anybody THAT brilliant in the side. Lower the width 3 notches.
