Defoe is the king!
play with him as a striker, and give him the role Poacher.
i won the league and FA Cup in thr 1st season with the spurs.

you say you won the league, what tactics were you using and what style did you play? i seem to have a problem conceding goals, lost 1-0 away to rubin in the champs league after haveing 21 shots, now have tough ties with ac milan and valencia. how do you play your defence and how do you manage to control possession?

I've restarted as Spurs (started again after getting to grips with new features, etc) and did the following things.

Sold - Crouch £5.5m and paid 13.5k wages for rest of his contract to Liverpool
- Kyle Naughton £2.9m to Stoke, though you have to keep offering him out.
- Bentley loaned to Villa for £1m plus furure fee.
- Hutton loaned £500k plus future fee.
- G.Dos Santos £4.6m to Athletico over 48 months (just to get rid of him)

Bought

- Lukaku £5.5m
- Coentrao £5.5m
- Rafael loan £750k
- Iker Munian loaned with future fee (just wanted to get a future fee in early before value went up)
- Arturo Vidal £6.5m

Play 442 or 424

Gomes

Corluka King Gallas Coentrao

Lennon Vidal Modric Bale

Pavyluchenko Defoe

Bassong is brilliant, Pavyluchenko is the best striker by far, Bale tares teams apart and I use Coentrao when Bale is not fit and put Ekotto back at LB.

I play as attacking as possible, with width and speed. I set a DLPM and B2B (support) CM combo, or BW and AP depending on who's in the team, so Vidal/Huddlestone are ideal DLPM, where as Sandro and Palacios are best as BW cm's.

I'm struggling with defence line and closing down, I haven't worked out what works best for them as a team yet, tips would be very welcome on defence/overall team settings.

The above should help you out though.

cheeers aslaram, at the moment im playing the 4-4-1-1 formation but vdv is injured so could try this. coentrao is nuts for me, sign him on every game i play. like you im not sure how to play the def line as 15's for pace and acceleration, lets put it, isnt quick when you cup up against the top forwards in europe so perhaps we should sit deep. also i feel my team is perhaps short of a right midfield player to support lennon and a top top class centre half

Tottenham have a horde of players. Your first job is to trim the squad and set a baseline XI. Gel them together and during pre season tweak one of the tactics variables (tempo, d line,...) also in the match preparation screen you can get a feel of things if you select the tactic. It will show you how used the players are to those settings as well as the formation

Tottenham are ruining my game. 9 points clear with 7 games left, considering they were in lower half after 15 games it shows the form they are on. They have an italian upfront called Mattia Destro. Must have player by the looks of him. I am in my 5th season though so he is probs 19-20 at the start.

Just a tip for the defence I use Bassong as a cover DC with zonal and Gallas as a stopper with man marking so far only conceded 3 goals in the league from 7 matches.
