I think it is how much money the club should pay the player if they terminate him. Example, if I want to fire Messi, I should pay him 50M.

release cause applys in spain you can buy the player for this amount just say a player has a release clause of 75 mil you can make a bid of 75 mil and it will be accepted without the club havig a say on it
