When selecting squad numbers, it saids:

Minimum of 8 players trained in England, for some reason i can't select my new signings as this changes

Yer ive had this before...either you've got to bit the bullet and build your team around your new signings or you could use the in game editor and change the players nationality or history so it fits. Hope this helps

One way around it is too select all the over 21 players who are first team regulars and leave how ever many spaces shy you are of the 8

(for example under the squad list it says "minimum of 8 players trained in england: 5 (5 places))

Because under 21's as of a certain date (mentioned at the bottom of your squad list) are selected any way ...

Sell "dead wood" aswell ... keep only first team regulars and re-invest in english talent (Shawcross, Rodwell, Delph, Gosling etc)

Mine states 1 (+7 spaces)

Yet when i select william gallas as a number it turns to 1 then a triangle with a ! init.

That means that you only have 6 spaces left .. so 1 + a potential 6 "english trained" players is only 7 ..
deselect all your 20 and under year olds from squad numbers and only select the older "must haves" .. this way you'll be able to play your youth and still have your new signings .. if not , save and holiday for a day to see if your assistant can get round it .. sometimes works for me when i'm confused about a message that needs a response !!!
