Hey everyone! Hope people are having a great start to your week, and that your team won this weekend (mine, unfortunately, didn't. We took Man City to their limit though!)
I wanted to make a quick post on here (I hope it's okay!) about NUTMEG! - A retro nostaligic football management game we (Secret Mode) released earlier this year. Set in the 80's, and later 90's, we combine balatro-esque deckbuilding elements with a traditional football management game, plus a bit of a rougelite spin via perk upgrades.
You control everything - players, staff, stadium, sponsors, training, tactics, starting XI. The game features a card-based match engine, where you use Boost Cards to alter the percentages of an event happening, as well as simulated matches.
While not entirely historically accurate (such as the Premier League being voted down), it does have a host of footballing legends you can pick up - including the likes of Alan Shearer, Gary Lineker, David Seaman, and Diego Maradona.
The game is out now, but we do have a Demo where you play a full season as Blackburn in the 91/92 season - the year they got promoted to Division 1. We have made several tweaks both during and after development based on community feedback, and have some stuff in the works that we're not quite ready to share just yet.
