The Scottish Championship crown and automatic promotion to the Scottish Premiership

THE CONTENDERS

View attachment 298527 View attachment 298525

As it stands Hearts are in 1st place on 80 points with a goal difference of 56.

Hibs are one point behind them on 79 points with only 2 goals less than Hearts in the goal difference

THE FIXTURES

Hearts vs Rangers at Tynecastle
Falkirk vs Hibernian at The Falkirk Stadium

1ST HALF

18 minutes: GOAL! Stefan El Hassnaoui gives Hearts the lead and one hand on the Championship crown.

28 minutes: GOAL! Jamie Walker doubles Hearts' lead against Rangers. The title is slipping away from Hibs, are they destined for the play-offs?

38 minutes: GOAL! Jason Cummings gives Hibs the lead against Falkirk. Surely too little too late for Hibs with Hearts in a commanding lead?

HALF-TIME

As it stand Hearts have the title in their hands with their 2-0 lead over Rangers at Tynecastle whilst Hibs lead 1-0 over Falkirk at The Falkirk Stadium, Hearts' 1 point lead coming into the match gives them the advantage

2ND HALF

48 minutes: GOAL! Jason Cummings adds a second goal to give Hibs a 2-0 lead, but they need Rangers to come back and at the very least hold Hearts to a draw

56 minutes: GOAL! Scott Robinson adds a third for Hearts and all but guarantees them the title

59 minutes: GOAL! Haris Vuckic pulls one back for Rangers, surely only a consolation?

71 minutes: GOAL! Jason Cummings completes his hat-trick with a cheeky lob over Jamie MacDonald. But could it be all for nought?

78 minutes: GOAL! Is it possible? Shane Ferguson pulls another goal back for Rangers to make it 3-2

............

83 mintes: GOOOOOAAAAAAAL! Unbelieveable scenes as Fraser Aird slams home the equaliser to make it Hearts 3 - 3 Rangers. Can Hearts find a winner in the next 7 minutes?

...........

FULL-TIME

HIBERNIAN HAVE WON THE SCOTTISH CHAMPIONSHIP

Hibs%20fans.jpg

This was truly nail-biting stuff. I'd nearly all but given up when Robinson's goal showed up on the feed. Then Rangers scored one and I slightly perked up a little. When Ferguson scored I was literally inches from the screen begging under my breath for a 3rd to come through. When Aird equalised I literally started shouting my head off and cheering. Till the end I was desperately praying for the score to remain the same, maybe even Rangers score a 4th.

However...

IT. IS. DONE!

We are back in the Scottish Premiership. Like Davy Jones' Flying Dutchman in the 2nd & 3rd Pirates of the Caribbean movies, the sunken ship known as the Hibernian has burst through the depths of the Championship and is now floating on the Premiership seas.

Only one way to cap this moment off, I give you, thee greatest football anthem: Sunshine On Leith

May/End of Season Review

Scottish Championship - 1st
Scottish Cup - Fifth Round
Scottish League Cup - Semi Final
Scottish Challenge Cup - Winners

Season Review

Delighted to have gotten promotion first time of asking. Winning the Petrofac cup was a wee bonus. Now on to build the squad to hopefully stay in the Premiership for years to come. Can sadly see us losing Farid & Cummings as interest is very high in both

Unsurprisingly Celtic won the Premiership. St. Johnstone, Aberdeen & the Accies secured European places. We swap places with dismal Kilmarnock

We lift the title crown. Rangers beat Falkirk & Hearts in the play-offs but then lost to Ross County

Targets

Premiership - Top Half
Scottish Cup - Final
Scottish League Cup - Final

The season preview came through and they expect us to finish 6th. I'd be happy with that but I am aiming higher. In the cups I'm hoping to improve from last season by hopefully getting to the finals of both

Fixtures

Glenavon 1 (Kevin Braniff 14)
Hibernian 1 (Sam Stanton 65)

Hibernian 1 (Dyland McGeouch 65)
Lyon 2 (Clement Grenier 75, Fares Bahlouli 89)

Bury 1 (Hallam Hope 30)
Hibernian 4 (Adam Chicken OG 25, Jason Cummings 51 & 90, Scott Allan 56)

Hibernian 3 (Dominique Malonga 11, 20 & 25)
AS Nancy 1 (Adam Beldjilali 48)

Wick Academy 2 (James Pickles 85, Jordon Forster OG 87)
Hibernian 3 (Sam Stanton 6, Lewis Allan 22, Dylan McGeouch 70)

Bristol City 5 (Kieran Agard 11, Dean Whitehead 26, Joe Bryan 47, Liam Monelle 84, Adam El-Abd 88)
Hibernian 3 (Paul Hanlon 7, Dominique Malonga 21, Dylan McGeouch 25)

Summary

Pretty mixed pre-season. Proud of our wins over Nancy and Bury. Was proud despite the late loss over Lyon. However the late goals against Wick & Bristol City are cause for concern.

Transfers

In

Three players in, one of them played for us last season

View attachment 298308

Dylan McGeouch - Free from Celtic

Proved his worth throughout the season, saw he was due to leave at the end of his Celtic contract so thought "why not?"

View attachment 298307

Lewis Milne - £210K from Cowdenbeath

Target since the start of last season but I already had way too many midfielders. Scott Robertson leaving frees up the space for him

View attachment 298306

Ross Barbour - £145K from Kilmarnock

Despite Ross signing on Right Back is going to be my weakest area this season after Keith Watson agreed a new contract at Dundee United. Why does Ross either look drunk or like he's just been punched in the face?

Out

Kleton Perntreou - Released

Aberdeen 0
Hibernian 0

Both teams still looked shady from pre-season. Aberdeen had 0 shots on target whilst we only managed 4

Scottish League Cup 1st Round

Hibernian 3 (Franck Dja Djedje 5 & 20, Dominique Malonga 17)
Turriff United 0

A good win over recently promoted Turriff. Would've probably gotten more if our youth midfielder Brett Hampton didn't get himself sent off after 3 minutes, forcing me to sacrifice Lewis Allan to bring on a midfielder

Hibernian 5 (Jason Cummings 22, Danny Handling 54, 60 & 68, Alex Harris 83)
Dundee United 3 (Ryan Dow 5, John Rankin 7, Paul Paton 45)

So the half-time hairdryer still works. Great to see Handling showing the forms that made me fall in love with him last FM (Or whatever one it was that he scored in every game he played near enough

Hibernian 5 (Dominique Malonga 8 & 53, Franck Dja Djedje 42, Lewis Allan 47 & 89)
Hamilton Accies 0

First dominating performance of the season, great to see young striker Lewis Allan get his first league goals (I think)

St. Johnstone 2 (David Wotherspoon 12, Lee Erwin 89)
Hibernian 3 (Jason Cummings 13 seconds, Danny Handling 55, Lewis Milne 60)

3 games in, 3 undefeated. Was slightly edgy when Erwin made it 3-2

Hibernian 3 (Danny Handling 82, Dominique Malonga 84, 85)
Motherwell 2 (Craig Wighton 41, John Sutton 54)

Those last 10 minutes, holy mother of jesus. Don't think I'd been that on my seat since watching Rangers pull the 3rd goal back to hand us the Championship title

Scottish League Cup 2nd Round

Hibernian 4 (Jason Cummings 2 & 19, Marc Klok OG 25, Dominique Malonga 32)
Raith Rovers 1 (Lewis Vaughan 82)

Great to progress in the cup, definitely think Raith are weaker without Dale Carrick

Ross County 1 (Darvydas Sernas 78)
Hibernian 2 (Jordon Forster 22, Danny Handling PEN 66)

Definitely the hardest game we've had to defend. The last 10 minutes we were just bombarded by County

League Table

View attachment 298095

First place and seemingly dominating. Although we haven't faced Celtic yet and could only draw against Aberdeen
