ENGLISH CURSE STRIKES AGAIN
View attachment 101039

For the second time, Holland have been defeated by England. It looked like it was going to be a 1-1 draw until Tom Huddlestone won the match at the death. "To say I'm frustrated is an understatement. We need to shape up for the European Championships in a few days." stated McDermott.

Airdrie, on the other hand, have qualified for the Europa League by finishing 4th in the league. As well as this, Abel Hernández was second place for the Golden Boot, but was voted the Football Writers Player of the Year. As his players go on holiday, McDermott is preparing for a bumpy road in European competition.

Home on Left, Away on Right

Fans have been left drooling, yes, DROOLING at the new kits announced today for Airdrie United. The sponsor, Dynabyte, are Dutch and were willing to sponsor McDermott's Airdrie team due to his ties with the Dutch National team.

In other news, Airdrie have been predicted to finish SECOND in the Premier League 1 this season. After finishing 5 positions above what they were expected to last season, finishing 4th and now in European Competition, Sky are offering a tempting 5-1 bet on them actually winning. To help McDermott, Rick Kamara has given him a massive £35 MILLION to spend. McDermott is said to be looking forward to the challenge once he returns from international management, with his next match being the European Championship Quarter Finals against Russia.

For Holland, I'm using a 4-2-3-1 with 1 DM, 1 CM 2 Attacking Mid Wingers and an AMC.

For Airdrie, to begin with I used a 4-1-3-2, then moved to a 4-4-1-1, now I'm on a 4-2-1-3.

HOLLAND ARE EUROPEAN CHAMPIONS
After a rollercoaster ride, Holland were crowned Champions on Europe. Here is how it all happened.

GROUP STAGES
View attachment 101670
The Dutch started out confidently with a 2-0 win over Norway, with Klaas-Jan Huntelaar opening the scoring.

View attachment 101666
It then began to get shaky for the Dutch as Holland scraped out a win in a 7-goal thriller against Croatia. Klaas-Jan, again, getting the Man of the Match after scoring an insane hat-trick.

It then got even worse for the Dutch as they only managed a draw against Greece. Although this got them 2nd place in the group and qualification, questions were asked about their playing style.

QUARTER FINALS

They then faced a hungry Russian team, but Arjen Robben doused their hopes after scoring hat-trick en route to a 4-2 win.

SEMI FINALS

The shakiness got worse in a 3-2 extra time win over former World Champions, Italy. van der Wiel and Boulharouz were injured and this left McDermott with a huge problem going into the final match against Spain.

McDermott decided to play an "Anti-Football" tactic against the reigning World Champions Spain. Even though Holland did not unleash a strike at goal, they still managed to win 4-1 on penalties. However, it would have been a different story had Torres buried his Penalty late in the first half.

EUROPA LEAGUE DRAW GIVES DIAMONDS A CHANCE
Airdrie have been given a good chance of progressing to the fourth qualifying round by drawing either Jeunesse Eche of Luxembourg or İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor of Turkey. İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor currently lead Jeunesse Eche 4-0 on aggregate and are favourites to take on the Diamonds.

AIRDRIE TRANSFER NEWS

Wilshere secures a season long loan to Airdrie, a move that Fabregas agrees with.

The transfer window has been full of surprises, with Arsenal's wonderkid midfielder, Jack Wilshere joining Airdrie on loan. However, the biggest surprise is Anderlecht's Romelu Lukaku ending up on the transfer list from former Holland Manager Bert Van Marwijk. It also leaves him out of contract and Airdrie have swooped in and offered him a contract. If accepted, it would give Airdrie a strikeforce that would be envied across Europe.

7 caps and 4 goals for Belgium, but will Anderlecht's Romelu Lukaku be plying his trade at New Broomfield this season?

6-1 DOESN'T FLATTER DIAMONDS

2 goals from Dennis Appiah, a Hat Trick from Abel Hernández and a spectacular shot from Wilshere did not to Airdrie justice as they dominated İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor. The match saw the competitive Airdrie debuts of Óscar Munoz, Jack Wilshere and Romelu Lukaku, with Munoz performing well in the centre back position, and Lukaku helping out up front with the 2 Hernández's. A last gasp freekick goal gave İstanbul Büyükşehir Belediyespor an all important away goal to savour.

MCDERMOTT; "WE MUST SCORE IN FRANKFURT!"

Following their 1-1 draw in the Europa League against Eintracht Frankfurt, McDermott declared that one goal will put their opponents on the back foot. The Diamonds took the lead following Abel Hernández's goal, a goal with Frankfurt believe should not have counted. Frankfurt equalised on the last kick of the ball from a speculative drive by Caio, giving Airdrie a lot to do when they visit the Commerzbank-Arena later in August.

LUKAKU KILLS OFF FRANKFURT

The fans were left celebrating into the night as a double from Belgian Romelu Lukaku left Airdrie in the group stages. Everyone was chanting "WHAT'S THAT COMIN' OVER THE HILL? IS IT LUKAKU? **** IT'S LUKAKU!" to the tune of The Automatic's "Monster".

However, the group stages will not be easy, as they have been drawn with Olympiakos, Napoli and Malága.

ZHI: "MCDERMOTT SHOWS NO RESPECT"

After sensationally being left out of McDermott's Europa League squad, Experienced Midfielder Zheng Zhi has stated that McDermott has no respect for the stars of the business. "Never in my time has someone showed so little respect for their squad, it makes me sick to my stomach."

McDermott, however, did not see it this way. "Zheng is throwing his toys out of the pram because he didn't get picked. So he doesn't like me, big woop, I didn't get here by being loved. I got here by getting the best out of my players and if Zheng dares to disrupt that balance then he will be done in this team. The only reason he's here now is so he can help Mao Jun settle in."

Mao Jun is a new signing from Beijing and made a statement in his first match [vs. St. Johnstone in the Super Cup] by heading home Airdrie's second goal. In other transfer news, Airdrie's favourite left back Alberto Morgado has said that he needs to move to further his career. McDermott doesn't want this to happen. "Morgado is a spectacular left back, one of the best I have come across in recent memory. If we lose him to Lazio then we will have a massive gap in our back line."

LA ROSADELA HOSTS 4-3 THRILLER

The Airdrie United fans came out of La Rosadela delighted with the last minute impact of Jack Wilshere, who gave Airdrie a dream start to their group campaign. Airdrie went 3-2 down thanks to a double from 10-men Málaga, but pulled it back in the dying minutes first through Hernández then from Wilshere who essentially threw his boot through the ball. This leaves Airdrie at the top of the group, above Olympiakos and Napoli, who drew 1-1.

The team seen as "The Best in the World" has just shown why they were given that moniker with a 4-0 demolition of Ukraine. With this win, they remain undefeated since their big win against Spain in the European Championships final.

I'm sorry to say this, but I have to close this story. Why?

Well I was going to turn on the PC at about 8PM, since I'd just stopped watching my niece. Then, it doesn't fully load... about 10 times. I tried cleaning it, and it failed. So I tried a non-destructive re-boot [which would have kept all my files] bu no go, so I had no choice but to fully re-boot without a chance to back anything up. Sorry to people who were enjoying it, but that's the way of the world... I guess :(
