how do i know if my tactic works in FM?

FM is such a weird game for me because theres no direct way to understand if a tactic works well or not, I want to think my tactic is good but then i overthink a role, an instruction or router login the mentality.

Trial and error. Set up friendly games and watch the full match, spot the patterns in game and adjust if you don't like something.
