How do you make wingers pass instead of shoot?

Of course I did, because you said wasn't relevant to the problem.

A 50 million dollar player with high stats across the board should not ever be taking 150 shots and hitting on 7% of them, no matter what the tactics are and no matter what his PPMs are and no matter what the game situation. It's just wildly unrealistic.

This isn't FIFA, the player isn't controlling the game's every move. If the AI is taking that many low percentage shots, then there's something wrong with the way the AI is processing information. Yes we can try to give him a ridiculous number of stifling instructions in order to keep him from launching shots from 50 yards out, but this is supposed to be simulation of professional football and professional footballers, not mindless robots that need to be told how to kick a ball.

Not at all. 150 shots was about 3.7 shots a game from his appearances. That's high shooting inside forward territory. Its exactly what Suarez and Bale used to do. Player styles and tactics/instructions go hand in hand. Its absolutely relevant. I dont give mine lots of instructions, i just tell him to get into the box first, try and cut out those lower percentage shots (which is what long shots are).

I have changed 1 thing in my approach to this game. Every winger I want to sign above 23-24 has to have PPM that he prefers to pass above shoot. If lower age I immediately start training it on him. Only thing I could think of to make it happen.

I just have my wide players shoot less and make sure they have players making good runs, scoring all sorts of slide rule pass, cut back and dinked cross goals.

And I have a problem with Eden Hazard who finishes many games with 0 shots. :/

I have to say I find the long shot thing very annoying. I'm trying to combat it, but it does seem that (looking at the analysis) the majority of my shots in matches come from outside the box.

Combined with my strikers seemingly only able to shoot directly at the keeper, it does make it very difficult to score.

I'll have a look at the suggestions here.

I've scored 100+ goals in a PL season multiple times in this game, often with my AMR-on a Winger-A duty, leading the team in assists at around 18+.

maybe a support duty is appropriate.

maybe you dont have enough players in the box for a cross to be worthwhile.

maybe your mentality is set too aggressively.\

Maybe there is nobody to pass the ball too when the winger streaks upfield with it.

I understand folks' frustration, this is a deep and at time difficult game if you cant get the tactics right, but i wish folks would stop trying to convince others that the game is ruined. If you dont like it, stop playing. Why are you wasting your and everyone elses time coming on here making outlandish and false claims about the game as a whole.

lots of folks on here can score plenty of goals, averaging well over 2 a game, from wherever theyd like. its just not accurate to state that isnt possible, and is really jut sour grapes.

the best tactical reading available is at the top of the SI GAMES tactics forum. There are three guides there that will change the way you play the game. I recommend reading them and ignoring all the people ITT who are telling us that the game is broken, or messed up.
