How do you qualify for African Champion's League???

I'm trying to do the Pentagon challenge, and I won the South African Premiership with Bidvest Wits in my first season. However, I did not qualify for the African Champion's League! the 3rd placed team (Sundown) and the 13th (!!) placed team (Amazulu) entered the competition instead and were promptly knocked out. how the **** do I qualify for this competition?? I checked the rules of both competitions but it does not specify!

I did it with a team in Ivory Coast. There is a delay. I was champion of Ivory Coast in June 2015 and started the matches for the ACL in Spring 2016 (for the final stages in Fall 2016).
