How to get strikers to drop onto opposition midfielders?

I want my strikers to drop deep when we aren't in possession in order to stop the opposition playing through the middle of the park. I want to avoid using a defensive forward if possible, currently using a target man and a false nine partnership.

Stick them on to mark specfic player in the pre mmatch options.

Would that not see them get too deep maybe?

Depends who you have them Man-Mark, i;d stick to the defence or anyone in the DMC/WB lines.. but MF might bring them too deep..

Use larger zones (change your philosophy towards a more fluid rank) or make the false nine a ten (shadow striker for example).
