Hi guys, I dunno if this is in the right Forum, but I need a hand getting the best out of my players tactically,

I plan on playing a 4-4-2 style formation,

Signed Players -

Jose Antonio Reyes & Leighton Baines so far, also looking for an english CB, possibly Shawcross, Jagielka, or Cahill.

My Formation/First team line-up -

GK - Szczesny
RB - Sagna - FB Support
CB - Vermaelan - ?
CB - Mertesaker - ?
LB - Baines - FB Support
CM - Song - CM Defend
CM - Wilshere - AP Attack - Arteta at start, obv cause Wilshere is injured
RW - Walcott - IF Attack
LW - Reyes - W Support
CF - RVP - DPF - Support
CF - Chamakh - ?

Not too sure how to play Mertesaker, Vermaelan, and Chamakh if I'm honest!

Any help would be greatly appreciated

Thanks

Scott xx

Also, If you have any other suggestions on signings, please feel free to recommend!

Firstly, the three players your unsure about.

Mertesaker = Limited Defender (Cover)
Vermaelen = Ball Playing Defender (Stopper)
Chamakh = Complete Forward (Support)

Also I would change
Song = Ball Winning Midfielder (Support) --------> it means your midfield will press as a unit rather than have a holding midfielder
Wilshere/Arteta = Advanced Playmaker (Support) --------> it suit the players style of play more than the (Attack)

and possibly consider playing RVP as a Trequartista (Attack) but the Deep Lying Forward style I would have him as (Attack) rather than (Support)

That will give you a more balanced lineup and should be pretty solid at the back.

I know its my tactics but I'd take a look at it, as i think it will help you with team, and there's 2 variations of 4-4-2 to help during injuries/suspensions...

Are you sure Mertesaker would be good as Cover? He can't run *****!

Also, Thank you for your advice! I have changed RVP to Trequartista! And both Song and Wilshere/Arteta

Definately Mertesaker can cover, definately, his got the intelligence to read the game and get there early and to be honest i suggest cover as Vermaelen is be moving higher up the pitch to win the ball and then he will sweep behind and be the last brick wall to have to pass... think back to Sol Campbell ..........

Oh yeah forgot your CD issue, I'd sign Gary Cahill as he can play both roles i have suggested effectively

First off considering the squad you have at your disposal I recommend using a 4-5-1 formation as your starting formation and 4-4-2 as backup. Generally speaking I don't see much point in assigning roles to cb's but if you do still want to I agree mertersacker should be assigned 'limited defender' and vermaelen 'Ball Playing Defender'. I personally play song as a defensive midfielder with defensive mentality, Ramsey as a deep lying playmaker (support) and Arteta as a central midfielder (attack). Reyes/wallcott/Arshavin/Gervinho/ I would play as inside forwards (attack), and I do agree RVP suits the Trequartista but I prefer going for the complete forward (attack) as he has no weaknesses to his game.
In terms of squad instructions I recommend playing with a fluid+attacking philosophy, slighly deep defensive line and slightly quick and wide.

Now on to to transfers, I recommend you sign some midfield and full back cover. Ramsey, arteta and song will get injured trust me on this so I recommend signing sime vrsaljko (DR/L Dm), he can be yours for about 3.9 million and will hit the ground running and be happy being a fringe player.

In my first season I signed Hamsik (27m) sime vrsaljko (3.9m) yaya sonogo (2m) Kameni (4.8m) Otamendi (13m) Romario(2.6m) and luckily I managed get my board to pay for Eden Hazard (46m!). Here's how my team lines up:

Gk: Szczesny

DR: Sagna CB: Otamendi CB: Mertesacker LB: T.vermaelen

DM:A.song

Cm: A.Ramsey/Arteta Cm: Hamsik

RW: Walcott/Hazard LW:Hazard/gervinho

ST: RVP

Using this tactic I've conceded only 6 goals in the BPL and have set a record for most wins in a row for my club. I'm really pulling away from everyone else in the league and I urge you to use 4-5-1 with Arsenal. (currently played 26 BPL games)

Thanks for your input Saltwater, great advice, will maybe give it a go, like Vrsalko, am in the middle of signing him, as I need back up for Sagna, Not too sure on Hamsik, he's an aweosme player, but still unsure

No problem :) Hamsik plays like a god but as soon as wilshere is fit I'm not sure how the team will line up tbh. Btw how's reyes' form for you? walcott and gervinho playing amazing at the moment, Koscielny and Szezceny have really suprised me aswell.

Reyes is playing BRILLIANT, 7 games in 6 assits and a goal! I never really rated him, until I bought him in my Demo game with Man Utd, and he performed extremely well! got him got 15mil so bargain!

Thanks Kino, your a vat of knowledge aren't you!
Haha, cheers. I only started this forum writing thing this year, going abit OTT to try and get my rating up lol. I absolutely hammer this gam home, lol. I always do about 8 different countries and numerous challenges for each one. :P
