How to sell players?

I want to sell players on football manager 2010. I am getting offers I like and I even accept them, but when I accept those offers the player's status goes into "contract." Then the player goes in to pending transfers. I'm pretty sure the transfer window is open as I just started the first season. What is the problem here?

Well if you have accepted it should go through :S

Wait till the player makes a decision... he can choose to accept or reject the contract.

Do you know on average how long it will take to go through because I sold lucas to manchester city for 6 m and I've waited 7 days (football manger time) still have made a decision?

It can take up to 2 weeks (game time) for a player to make his mind up, sometimes longer. Be patient.

A week's quite a while, but not uncommon.
