How to turn a CM into a Wide Playmaker?

Hi guys!

I need a little help with a tactic I'm trying to setup right now. The formation is a 4-3-3, but I want to change that when my team has the ball.

Basically, I play with three CMs on midfield, like that:

CM - CM - CM

I want that the two side-CMs turn into Wingers (or a Wide Playmaker, to be more specific). I need that because my tactic is focused on player movement. The CMs open to the flanks, the Inverted Wing Backs replace them. When we lose the ball, the CMs close the middle and the Inverted Wing Backs close the flanks.

I did some research and it seems that the Mezzala (in FM 18) does that, but I only play the FM 17.

There is someway to kind of recreating the Mezzala in FM 17? Or some instruction ou PPM that makes the CM goes to the flanks?

no, because only in fm18 you can give your central midfielders the instruction to run wide with the ball.

You could train them to run down left or right flank, set them run with ball and move into channels. I’ve had a similar set up in the past and you’ll find they will drift out wide
