Bradley looks strong, it is all about pace and acceleration for strikers in the lower leagues :D

Btw. Charlie Webster keeps impressing for my 19 goals in 10 matches, 7 MOM ;) He is also 15/15 in Pace and Acc and 10 in finishing :D

Its been a much better start to this season than where we left off in the last. Our defence seems a lot more solid now, but is still making mistakes and leaking a few goals. The opening month saw us play 6 games, winning 3, drawing 2 and losing 1. We are sitting nicely in 5th place, so I am hopping we will be able to keep up our early form

Macclesfield 1 - 0 Worcester

View attachment 328551

A nice start to the season. An easy 1-0 win. Perhaps we should have got more goals, but a clean sheet is good

Gloucester 0 - 3 Macclesfield

View attachment 328550

Another great win and a clean sheet. Centre back Gordon got himself two goals from powerful headers, both from corners.

Macclesfield 3 - 3 Stalybridge

View attachment 328547

A disappointing draw against Stalybridge after being in the lead. After being 3-1 up at half time to draw 3-3 was extremely disappointing. A few defensive mistakes at the back started to creep into this game, so we will try prevent them in future games.

Harrogate 1 - 1 Macclesfield

View attachment 328545

Another disappointing draw considering we dominated the game. Captain Lewis was the man of the match this game.

Macclesfield 5 - 1 Blyth

View attachment 328544

An excellent win after two disappointing draws. Youngster Payne got himself his first goal. Carroll got himself on the scoresheet twice. It was just disappointing that we didnt keep up the concentration for the whole game after conceeding in the 90th minute

Leamington 2 - 1 Macclesfield

View attachment 328543

Our first lost of the season came against Leamington. It was an even game, but Leamington were the team that came out on top

Its been another month of inconsistency. Being unable to put a string of wins together does get frustrating, especially when your two wins win of the month were 5-2 and 6-1! It was also disappointing that we were knocked out of the FA Cup by Harrogate.

Macclesfield 5 - 2 FC United

View attachment 327997

After making some changes to my tactics, things looked very good with a 5-2 victory. Bradley Reid got himself a hattrick, so it looks like things will go well.

Stockport 2 - 1 Macclesfield

View attachment 327996

This was a very disappointing defeat for us considering we were winning 1-0 in the 87th minute. We need to work on concentrating in defence for the whole game.

Macclesfield 6 - 1 Workington

View attachment 327995

Again another amazing victory for us against Workington. This takes our total number of goals this month to 12 in just 3 games. Centre back Delroy Gordon had a fantastic game, getting 2 goals and making several good interceptions.

Hereford 3 - 3 Macclesfield

View attachment 327994

A very pleasing draw with league leaders Hereford. It was my turn to FM FM with a last minute goal. Walkes kept his cool from the spot to make the game level.

Harrogate 3 - 0 Macclesfield (FA Cup)

View attachment 327993

I was gutted to me knocked out of the cup so easily. We were poor all around, not able to finish or defend properly.

Going well in the league so far. Shame about the cup though

Once again we are unable to find any real consistency. Another high scoring victory, more disappointing late defending and a frustrating defeat. We have dropped down into 6th now, 2 points away from the play off zone

Macclesfield 5 - 1 Hemel Hempstead

View attachment 327980

Bradley Reid once again found his shooting boots, and was perhaps unlucky not to get a hattrick after also hitting the post. Lewis also scored a cracking long range shot.

Macclesfield 2 - 2 Bishop's Stortford

View attachment 327979

Reid once again was in good form, but our defence let us down again.

Chorley 2 - 2 Macclesfield

View attachment 327978

Reid once again got himself on the score sheet taking his total to 10 for the season. After Rowe looked like he gave us a win on the 86th minute, our defence once again went to sleep and conceded a last minute goal.

Chester 3 - 1 Macclesfield

View attachment 327977

A difficult game against Chester who are sitting above us ended in defeat. Chester dominated us the whole game and deserved their victory

Macclesfield 3 - 1 Bradford PA

View attachment 327976

We ended the month on a high though with a victory over Bradford PA. Even their last minute goal was not enough to take a victory away from us this time.

We are slowly starting to improve our consistency. This month we had 3 wins and 2 losses. One of them wins also saw us progress to the first round of the FA Trophy which sees us play a home game against Leamington. We have dropped away in the league a little bit though, and we are now 6 points of the play off zone.

Boston Utd 1 - 0 Macclesfield

View attachment 327926

A poor start to the month against Boston Utd. We dominated the game, but our finishing was woeful. To make things worse, Paul Lewis came off with a broken toe which could leave him out for up to 2 months.

North Ferriby 2 - 1 Macclesfield

View attachment 327925

We got just our 2nd away win of the season against North Ferribly. It was a well contested game, and I am pleased we were able to win it.

Macclesfield 3 - 2 Guiseley

View attachment 327924

A hotly contested game saw both teams finish with 10 men. Sam Long gave us the win with his first touch of the game after coming on after Fabian Rowe was sent off.

AFC Fylde 4 - 3 Macclesfield

View attachment 327923

Another great game for the neutrals, but not so much for the managers. AFC Fylde are now the team above us, as this win saw them move 6 points ahead.

Macclesfield 3 - 1 Chorley (FA Trophy)

View attachment 327922

We have finally progressed in a cup competition! A solid 3-1 victory ensured we made it to the draw for the 1st round

Great thread mate! (As my username might give away) I love Lower League stuff, so really happy to see a story of this quality from the Vanarama leagues!

One question - From my experiences so far in FM15, defending in lower leagues seems shocking, 7+ goals in a game is almost routine for me, and reading through this you seem to have the same. Do you think this is just down to our tactics, or is it something that needs ironing out with the game?

I would say it is a bit of both personally

So I got a little carried away again and played 2 months without doing an update. I will do a round up of the key results over December and January

After a shocking start to December, I sent goalkeeper Beeney on his bike after his mistakes got too much for me to handle. The amount of points we dropped because of him was unreal. I got in a few new player on loan also, including a new goalkeeper. We then started to put together a little bit of consistency, going 6 games unbeaten. We are
currently outside the play-off zone, so im hoping we can keep up the consistency and cement our place in that zone.

View attachment 326300

Southport 2 - 1 Macclesfield

View attachment 326297

This game was the final straw for Jordan Beeney. Poor goalkeeping had cost us in the last few games, so I sent him back to Charlton.

Macclesfield 3 - 0 Gloucester

View attachment 326296

We got in Matt Macey on loan from Arsenal to replace Beaney at in the first game it looked like a great decision. A change of tactics gave us a 3-0 victory.

Stalybridge 5 - 5 Macclesfield

View attachment 326295

Another fantastic game for the neutrals, but not so much for me. Lomax has a super game for Stalybridge getting himself 4 goals.

Macclesfield 2 - 3 Stockport

View attachment 326294

Our final game of January saw us concede a late goal against league leaders Stockport. It was a disappointing loss considering we dominated the game.

So once again I am without a ****** club. The team just forgets how to score goals after things are going well. The board called me into a meeting and set some highly unrealistic goals so I resigned. They said they would be glad to see the back of me. Well F*ck you too.

Starting to get frustrated of the crappy lower leagues now

So I decided that I have had enough of England, and decided that I will pack my bags and head abroad. I got several interviews, and was turned down by clubs in Spain, but finally managed to get a job with Fabril Barreiro in the Portuguese National Championship.

Looking at their squad......FML they are awful. They havent even got a single striker in the squad. This is going to be even harder than before. With just 9 games remaining they are 8 points away for safety.

Wish me luck...

Well, I am genuinely speechless. I was expecting more misery than ever before when I took over, but on the basis of the first two games it will be far from it. Remembering that we do not have a single natural striker in the squad, in our first two games, we scored an amazing 9 goals! Both victories saw us move just 3 points from safety

Fabril Barreiro 6 - 2 Lusitania Acores

View attachment 326266

I honestly could not believe how great the team was in this opening game. A hatrick from right midfielder Paulo Dias gave him the man of the match award in the first game in ages I have been really happy with the result. A sign of things to come?

Fabril Barreiro 3 - 2 Paredes

View attachment 326265

Another good result against 3rd placed Paredes. Dias going himself another goal, meaning we are now just 2 points away from the relegation play-off zone.

We did it! Not only did we managed to avoid relegation and the relegation play-off, we also managed to finish in 4th position! The team has performed exceptionally since I took over, and they won 5 games, drew 3 and lost just one. It was very tight on the final day, with us sitting in 6th place, but a nervy 1-0 win moved us well away from that relegation zone.

Dezembro 1 - 3 Fabril Barreiro

View attachment 326240

A third win on the bounce to complete the excellent start to the season. The plays are playing extremely well, and we look good to avoid relegation.

Fabril Barreiro 1 - 3 Real

View attachment 326239

Our only loss of my time in charge here came against Real. The lads didnt really show any passion and deserved to lose the game

View attachment 326238View attachment 326237View attachment 326236

3 draws in a row left us in 7th place with just 2 games to go. With the league being so tight, we needed to make sure we started holding on to victories to ensure our safety.

Lusitania Acores 0 - 1 Fabril Barreiro

View attachment 326235

A very tight game which we managed to hold onto a 1-0 win meant that straight relegation was in our hands. The victory moved us up into 6th, meaning that if we won our last game we would be in the relegation play-offs at the very worst.

Fabril Barreiro 1 - 0 Dezembro

View attachment 326234

It was extremely nervy but we managed to do it. Paulo Dias goal proved to be vital to the club, and results elsewhere meant that we move up to 4th place. I am now slightly more ambition now about next season.

Wow, herculean effort to beat the drop mate. About time something went your way!

It is with great sadness I have decided to end this save. Keep an eye out for a new one soon though

Great story. It's pretty brutal in the lower leagues. The key thing I look for in players is Determination. When skill levels are so low, the will to win makes up for a lot ... ESPECIALLY in defenders.

Best of luck ...
