IFK Malmo was founded in 1899 which makes it the oldest football club in Malmo. IFK participated in the first ever Allsvenskan season which debuted in 1924/25. The club have played a full 13 seasons in the Premier Division of Swedish football. Their greatest result finishing runners up in the 1959/60 season. They followed up that success with a quarter final appearance in the 1960/61 European Cup in which they were knocked out by Rapid Vienna. IFK Malmo have since fallen to the fourth tier of the Swedish football structure and have not played against once fierce rivals Malmo FF in the league for almost 50 years! IFK Malmo find themselves inside the Malmo Stadion a magnificent 26,500 (14,000 seated) stadium, which may be far too big for the current situation the club find themselves... but perhaps they can finally find themselves in the top tier where they belong alongside city rivals and ambitiously they may find themselves in the echelons of the European Cup once again...

New IFK Malmo boss William Howard takes over a team who are sitting 8th in the league after 13 games, half way through the season and IFK find themselves only a few points of the top spot and feel they can make a real push in the second half of the season for Promotion.

New boss William Howard has brought in 5 new players all on free transfers to bulk out the squad, he has also brought up 3 members from the Under 19s who look to have a bright future with the club. At first glance we have a very young team with some players hoping to show the new manager what they can do!

Newly promoted youngsters Robin Dahlgren and Ali Silfverberg are hoping to make a big impact on the first team as the new manager shows faith in putting them straight in the starting lineup for his first game in charge.

Two consecutive wins have helped rescue those two losses to the start of William Howard's managerial campaign at the Swedish outfit. Those valuable six points have propelled IFK Malmo into 4th however it is very tight with just 4 points seperating them from 11th spot team Kvarnby IK. They have a long way to go if they are to catch any of the teams at the top and any chance of promotion is looking slim now.
