I'm having problems with updates

For FM09 I used Steam for updates but it was annoying, so for FM 2010 I decided not to use it. When I download and intall the updates I have no idea if it has worked and when I start a new game it just says '10.0.0' if I've installed the latest one shouldn't it give me the option to choose from 10.0.0, 10.1.0 and 10.1.1?

the patch will have saved in the db or edt file im documents/sportsinteractive....etc....

remove the file if you want 10.0.0

The thing is I want to use the new updates but it seems to not be giving me the option to. I'm not entirely sure if I did it right. When I download the patch what am I supposed to do with it? Run it in the 'db' folder?

The new updates don't have new databases. That's why it still says you are using the 10.0.0 database.

To check if the patches have worked though it should say 10.1.1 at the top of the screen in the titlebar.

Bit of a problem here guys
How do I select a custom DB as the default database
Because for some reason the official updates don't work
The files are comming up as unknown
